Transfer of data is enough fast. The USB cable they provided is thick and good . It has a LED notification. (Refer Cons for a very important thing to perform on these HDD as soon as you receive them though that test would take about 11-12 Hours but you will be sure your Data is safe)Update: Empty/Brand-New HDD with no data should take only about 4 Hours for test to complete (1 Hour per 1TB), if HDD is completely full(data) then it would take about 11-12 hours to complete the test.Would suggest to run test after filling it up completely.Also, don’t move the HDD while its running and dropping it from height can damage it .. ( Make sure no program is using your My Passport HDD)5. Let it run would take about 11-12 Hours to complete and if it finds too many Bad Sectors Program will abort with error.(If you have some different error you can google “Data Lifeguard Diagnostics Error Code List” and find what kind of error you are getting..)6. If It aborts you know you need to Return the drive or you need to get it replaced under warranty.

It’s not working…after 10 – 15 day….I contacted all online numbers i send mail to the services center. no body responds.in Mumbai there are no services center available.Mobile or laptop service sector not ready to any thing with External Hard Drive. my product still in warranty. but i need to put it in to scrap..I lot my all official data. Working with this drive for quite some time now (around 1 year). Works as well as any external drive.Only issue is – the connection cord to the USB device is not a micro-usb port. It comes with its own connecting cable.CAnnot use the other usb cables – eg Mobile cables, etc with this one. So always have to carry the provided cable. But using that I have seen the transfer rates being much higher than other external drives.Note: with my other External drive I do not have to worry about carry the cable, as my mobile cable having micro-usb connector works fine.

Think twice before buying Sony Hard disk as it’s a cheap product. The hard disk inside the plastic cover is manufactured by Toshiba, which you can buy at half the cost from open market, as I enquired straight. I had a good image about Sony brand, but seems things have changed a lot since the Chinese technology invasion into making cheaper non durable products. Think twice, here think and buy if you necessarily need a Sony hd only. Thanks

I ordered 2 TB-Blue for Rs 4500 [4999-499(10% instant off, SBI)] The product was eligible for free 1 day delivery from Dankuni warehouse to Dumdum, Kolkata.The product is very compact and light-weight. Maximum available storage is 1863 GB because storage manufacturers consider 1000 byte= 1 kilobyte, 1000 KB= 1 MB etc. (They use 1000 multiplier instead of 1024) The hard disk has 1 partition using the GPT scheme. WD kept about 1 MB unallocated at the beginning and at the end of the primary partition.Always perform the surface test and SMART test after buying a hard disk. I have used lots of tools to benchmark and to check the health of the hard disk.1. Windows Data Lifeguard Diagnostics2. CrystalDiskMark, CrystalDiskInfo3. HD Tune4. Hard Disk Sentinel5. EaseUS partition master6. DiskCheckup, GSmartControlAverage random seek time: 0.76 ms. Read speed/ Write speed depends on a lot of factors. Read speed at areas with data: about 70-80 MBPS, Read speed at empty areas: 220-250 MBPS. The surface test took about 2 Hours 10 Minutes because most of the hard disk was empty. Write speed is about 80-90 MBPS. The temperature was about 44-45 degree Celcius during heavy read-write (atmosphere was about 30 degree Celcius). Please see the attached images for full test results.WD pre-loaded some software for users in the hard disk. WD Discovery, WD backup, and WD drive utilities. The offline installers are outdated and they need to be updated later. Thus, if you have an internet connection, I recommend downloading them directly from the official website. Also, download WD security if you need to password protect your hard disk. WD discovery software doesn’t do much except helping you to install other software. Thus you can skip this one. You need to configure WD backup to enable automatic backup. You can import/export from/to online storages. You can also disable the blinking LED light, enable idle sleeping etc using the software.Register at WD official website to check your warranty status, product manual etc. Warranty is 3 years from the date of invoice (not the date of delivery). I have ordered a Sony Hard Disk of Black color but i have received white color Hard Disk. I initially thought of seeking for a replacement but then i let it off as it will take a weeks of time for the replacement. And also the black one is bit expensive than the white one, so again it’s a loss of few hundreds for me. Very much disappointed. I started to use it and am not seeking for replacement am informing you as a mistake had happened.

This is my 10th Seagate HDD purchase. I really love seagate external hard drives. I have 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB. A few days ago, when i saw this new model edition and i thought of giving it try. I liked the design but the problem is its in ”exFAT” system format. Usually, most of the drive will be in NTFS which is quite user friendly. But this ”exFAT” has biggest problem with transfer speed. So, i have to format to NTFS and now, transfer speed is good. So, as of now, its better to go for older model than new one. Because full formatting takes hours and it just painful and consumes time. Yes, you can go for quick format but full format identifies bad sectors and it literally completes formatting procedure.Of course, ”exFAT” is advance file system of FAT32. And also it detected with Sony LED TV. But the problem is transfer speed. And also i read the file system formats in Seagate website, especially about ”exFAT” file system, kindly see below:”exFAT: generally compatible with Mac and Windows. exFAT is not a journaled file system which means it can be more susceptible to data corruption when errors occur or the drive is not disconnected properly from the computer”This is not user friendly but you have to format it to NTFS to make it as user friendly. Therefore, i leave it up to you, guys! and its your call for going for this new edition of Seagate.

At the heart of the matter, the write speeds are low, in my case virtually “0”. Crystal disk mark for a 64Bit Windows machine is given.Would recommend some other Tier 1 brands instead of this if the drive is used for backup, you need good and sustained speeds, which this drive does not giveOn the positive the product looks good, much nicer than the earlier gen for sure.

The device works perfectly and can be used on xbox, ps4 pc and Mac however you will not get the full 4tb when I plugged mine in it said that I had 3.6tb available, tried formatting it and still the same, that’s 400gb that I can’t use on the device I understand that some is needed to be used by the system to make it run etc but not nearly half a terabyte

The mentioned speed for a USB 3.0 HDD is good.Build quality is top class. I had broken my previous HDD because it fell on the floor multiple times. Thanks to the strong build I don’t think this one will experience that.Highly recommended!

Based on the initial tests, I got max read speed of 340 Mbps and max Write Speed of 295 Mbps.Instead of laptop, when I used my Phone to transfer the data, the speed went down to 230 Mbps and 200 Mbps respectively.File Transfer Speed Test Results:Folder Size: 6.06 GBFile Type: Video FilesFile Count: 63Device Used: Macbook Pro, PH1 with USB C CableWrite Test:Mac to SSD – 2 mins 48 seconds (295 Mbps)Phone to SSD – 3 mins 37 seconds (230 Mbps)Write Test:SSD to Mac – 2 mins 26 seconds (340 Mbps)SSD to Phone – 4 mins 12 seconds (200 Mbps)

Brought it for 4.5 k during dussera offer 2019. Little bit bigger than a match box and light weight. Mfd on September 2018 & made in Taiwan. This is a newer model than both Samsung evo and Seagate, though same technology. Partition is exfat. It has a USB C-type port and comes with two cables, a C-type to USB and a C-type to C-type. Compatible with latest smart phones. Notably, SSD are power efficient and have a faster data transfer rate and longer life than conventional HDD.

first of all it very hard to get this HDD detected on windows 10. you need to maually choose drivers and install it. Once it get Detected this USB HDD makes lot of noise while copying data. Speed is very slow and it keeps hanging while copying data.Never Buy this product even if its below thousand bucks.

I have a WD MyCloud 2TB with a Seagate 4TB Backup Plus as a backup and both required power, but I need a 4TB portable hard disk and ended up in buying this Western Digital 4TB My Passport Portable hard disk (New Edition) for Rs.8198.————————————————📦 IN THE BOX & HDD CONTENTS————————————————◾ 4TB Blue Portable Harddisk in a bubble case◾ Superspeed USB cable◾ Quick Install Guide◾ WD Discovery software for WD Backup◾ WD Security and WD Drive Utilities—————————————-🗓️ MY USAGE & EXPERIENCE—————————————-The product has been manufactured in Thailand and imported to India and this New Edition WD My Passport is supposed to have lesser failures and supposed to be more robust than the previous version.Upon connecting 3.63TB was free and 297MB was used by the formatting of the disk which stores the disk geometry that allows hard disk to accept, store, and retrieve data. The hard disk was formatted with NTFS.This hard disk fits inside the palm of the hand and is quite small for a 4TB, 10.7cm length, 7.5cm breadth and 1.8cm depth, and is not heavy too.Being a portable hard disk, it doesn’t require any power. I was able to connect it with my Xbox, WD MyCloud, Laptop and Desktop with ease and it detects quite fast.The write speeds were at 110 MB/s in actual and read speeds was around 115 MB/s. The disk reports were also almost similar at 120-127 MB/s. (see attached report). I haven’t tried any brute force recovery of data on this disk yet but the encryption seems to be good enough for home use. This is my 10th Seagate HDD purchase. I really love seagate external hard drives. I have 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB. A few days ago, when i saw this new model edition and i thought of giving it try. I liked the design but the problem is its in ”exFAT” system format. Usually, most of the drive will be in NTFS which is quite user friendly. But this ”exFAT” has biggest problem with transfer speed. So, i have to format to NTFS and now, transfer speed is good. So, as of now, its better to go for older model than new one. Because full formatting takes hours and it just painful and consumes time. Yes, you can go for quick format but full format identifies bad sectors and it literally completes formatting procedure.Of course, ”exFAT” is advance file system of FAT32. And also it detected with Sony LED TV. But the problem is transfer speed. And also i read the file system formats in Seagate website, especially about ”exFAT” file system, kindly see below:”exFAT: generally compatible with Mac and Windows. exFAT is not a journaled file system which means it can be more susceptible to data corruption when errors occur or the drive is not disconnected properly from the computer”This is not user friendly but you have to format it to NTFS to make it as user friendly. Therefore, i leave it up to you, guys! and its your call for going for this new edition of Seagate.

It seems this SSD has a very small cache. The maximum write speeds you get is around 300MBps, which drops down to 90MBps within a minute. Can’t write large files to it at proper speed.Don’t buy this!

 ☝️A PREVIEW TO PURCHASE :***********************************I like to keep backups of backups of my lifetime collected data & thus have over 15 TB of external harddisks in my arsenal with a dominant share of Western digital disks( both passport & elements ) & few others like Transcend , Samsung SSD & a seagate ( old usb 2.0 ).🔶️ Now , whenever we opt to go for a new external Disk purchase, the following challenges are encountered & if you are planning to invest thousands in purchase – my detailed review, even though a bit lengthy is worth reading.👉 HDDs vs SSDs :**********************While none of the mechanical HDDs can reach the blazing fast speeds of SSDs in excess of 500 MB/s R/W, The HDDs definitely offer a better value for money per MB of storage.Also if data is corrupted in a SSD its almost never retrievable while in a HDD , there is always a hope depending upon extent of damage.🔷️ So for majority bulk backup – HDD are a better option to costlier SSDs.👉 WD vs Seagate :*********************This is again a topmost struggle making a decision.🔸️Now both are giant reputed american storage brands & preference is mostly based upon personal usage experiences.🔸️I read somewhere that seagate offers better speeds& WD better reliability but i dont feel its true as speeds depend upon type of files being transferred & reliability upon manufacturing processes , which is hard to doubt for both brands.🔸️ Regarding price WD is a bit costlier to seagate for same capacity.🔸️ Both offer same warranties of 3 years.I had a wd failure & my friend had seagate failure – yet we both got replacements with data restored from their service centres.🔸️ Regarding inbuilt software , i suppose WD is better as it comes with WD discovery that can link with all your social portals for backup too.🔷️ So you can go for any of these brands – WD being my personal favourite.🔷️ To ensure failsafe operation , testing for bad sectors before use ( using WD utility or any other HDD inspection software like HD sentinel etc ) is always a good idea.🔷️ Store these drives horizontally in a dry case & not vertically or inclined , as in latter case the heads and platters tend to deform & get stuck.I learnt it the hard way.💝 I bought the latest 2019 4 TB passport drive and 3.63 TB of usable space was available in it.🔸️ The packing as usual was good enough with an instruction manual & 8 inches of connecting cable.5/5 ⭐🔸️ The HD enclosure is premium ABS plastic which can surely withstand few non- severe slips & falls.A periphery cushioning or base padding with shock absorbent rubber would additionaly be great.4.2 /5 ⭐🔸️ The design & looks of this new drive aren’t as elegant & classy, as previous passports & elements as my personal opinion.2/5 ⭐🔸️ The drive is very compact, sturdy & light weight too.5/5 ⭐🔸️ It was formatted in NTFS mode with 4096 bytes of allocation unit size.ExFat is another option & you can play with allocation size also for better speeds but a bit less space.5/5 ⭐🔸️ With a mixed media & software file folder transfer of 5 GB , i registered – a write speed of 112 MB /s & a read speed of 160 MB /s on my HP omen core i7 configuration , which i suppose is fair enough for a mechanical Hard drive.5/5 ⭐🔸️ The new Hard disk has softwares for mac & windows backup both.5/5 ⭐🔸️ The HD has a very small point like white led indication for status & won’t bother much in dark rooms.5/5 ⭐🔸️ The HD is very silent during operation & doesn’t heat much even after few hours of backup.5/5 ⭐🔸️ Warranty offered is 3 years which is contemporary to industry standards & similar to seagate.As already quoted earlier , i had one harddisk replaced & data restored in warranty like 6 years back by WD.So no issues there, noone is going to offer pick & drop at home – be assured.🤏 Final Verdict :**********************All in all , I have always been a WD guy & this new 2019 version further restores my faith in the same.

Incluso se han eliminado las patas de goma que siempre han llevado los modelos superiores de este fabricante, lo que conlleva que transmita más facilmente las vibraciones al girar y que se deslice con demasiada facilidad.Este es el caso de este nuevo disco de Western Digital, que ha bajado en tamaño físico,-lo que está muy bien-, aumentado en capacidad,-que también esta bien-, pero bajando las prestaciones, lo que ya no está tan bien; nada bien, en realidad.Respecto de la serie anterior, el rendimiento es entre un 25% y un 35% inferior. Esto se traduce en que, al copiar contenido, donde la versión anterior mantenía unos dignos 80-90 MB/s ahora se obtienen 50-60MB/s. En mi opinión, esto es inaceptable. Por poner un ejemplo, para copiar 4 TB necesitarás más de 36 horas, 12 horas más que con la serie anterior. Y hablando de Teras, ya sabréis que la industria juega a manipular los datos sobre capacidades hablando de teras no informaticos (base 10) en vez de los que cualquier usuario espera (base 8). No os extrañe por tanto comprobar que vuestro PC informe que el disco tiene una capacidad de 4,54 TB en vez de los 5 TB anunciados. Me parece poco ético que utilicen una medición fuera del ámbito PC y más propios de la industria de las telecomunicaciones.Por todo ello, y en mi opinión, no es un producto recomendable.Añado que es mucho más ruidoso que la serie anterior. Yo creo que es debido al fino plástico de la carcasa que hace de caja de resonancia cuando gira.

At the heart of the matter, the write speeds are low, in my case virtually “0”. Crystal disk mark for a 64Bit Windows machine is given.Would recommend some other Tier 1 brands instead of this if the drive is used for backup, you need good and sustained speeds, which this drive does not giveOn the positive the product looks good, much nicer than the earlier gen for sure.

Simple setup. Lot of help available on the net. You can use it as backup as well as cloud storage. I am using it in the default RAID configuration. So far very good and have not faced any issues.

I bought this primarily as a media server and wish I had gone with a 218+ instead. 2 major problems with this device for serving media. 1. The built in DiskStation media server does hardware transcoding of video, but lacks codecs for reading dolby digital plus or DTS, this is becoming more common in media files so anything you have with eac3 will play back as muted. You can no longer install a custom version of ffmpeg to get around this. 2. If you decide to install Plex to handle this wider variety of codecs, you will lose hardware transcoding support, everything is software because this is an ARM device, not an Intel device. Plex can stutter on 1080p transcodes.

This is a basic USB cable, and it does just what it says. I use it to transfer music from my PC to my MP3 player and it does the job just fine. The transfer speeds are average, not anything spectacular, but that is expected in a USB 2.0 cable. The length of the cable is just as much as mentioned, and the cable connects well, especially the USB mini connector. I have used some USB mini connectors that do not connect perfectly, but this one does. The wire looks durable and I guess it will last.There is nothing much to tell about this product, as this is just a cable. But, if you are looking for a low-cost USB Mini cable, then this might do the job for you.

I am reviewing this item after using it for 10 days. I haven’t face any issue till now. The Cord quality is really good and is very thick. But the length of the cord is really short. Actually I bought this item as because my original cord of my 1TB Seagate HDD got damaged. GUys don’t have to worry about the transfer speed as I have already tested the speed with my original one and now this one, So its more or less same! (70 to 120mbps copying speed).

I ordered the long cable version.. Except for the big length, I am delighted with the qualityMy HD stopped detecting even if there was a small shake . But this cable is rock solid and even if I move my HD ( even when the files are being copied) it works like a charm and speed is excellent.. Of course you should have a 3.0 USB Port for faster copyingTotally recommend this

This product is of extreme quality. Someone looking for high quality charging and data cable for their Samsung Note 3 must go for this. The cable is so thick , one gets a feeling you are powering a vaccum cleaner at the other end.I bought a few useless cables before i decided to try Amazon Basics

I have a WD MyCloud 2TB with a Seagate 4TB Backup Plus as a backup and both required power, but I need a 4TB portable hard disk and ended up in buying this Western Digital 4TB My Passport Portable hard disk (New Edition) for Rs.8198.————————————————📦 IN THE BOX & HDD CONTENTS————————————————◾ 4TB Blue Portable Harddisk in a bubble case◾ Superspeed USB cable◾ Quick Install Guide◾ WD Discovery software for WD Backup◾ WD Security and WD Drive Utilities—————————————-🗓️ MY USAGE & EXPERIENCE—————————————-The product has been manufactured in Thailand and imported to India and this New Edition WD My Passport is supposed to have lesser failures and supposed to be more robust than the previous version.Upon connecting 3.63TB was free and 297MB was used by the formatting of the disk which stores the disk geometry that allows hard disk to accept, store, and retrieve data. The hard disk was formatted with NTFS.This hard disk fits inside the palm of the hand and is quite small for a 4TB, 10.7cm length, 7.5cm breadth and 1.8cm depth, and is not heavy too.Being a portable hard disk, it doesn’t require any power. I was able to connect it with my Xbox, WD MyCloud, Laptop and Desktop with ease and it detects quite fast.The write speeds were at 110 MB/s in actual and read speeds was around 115 MB/s. The disk reports were also almost similar at 120-127 MB/s. (see attached report). But the speeds changes depending on the free disk space, how much the disk is fragmented and whether there are any bad sectors, etc. This is quite impressive in my opinion.I didn’t see any heating up issues with this new edition and temperature always remained under 37 degree C even under heavy writes in my testing with room temperature around 27- degree C.The WD Discovery software is super cool, it can import files from social media and maintain a backup. Just need to sign into Facebook or Instagram or Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. It can also take a backup from WD MyCloud devices.The WD Security app provides a way to setup a password for the hard disk and contents can be encrypted, so when data is written it’s encrypted and when data is read it’s decrypted when password is used. I haven’t tried any brute force recovery of data on this disk yet but the encryption seems to be good enough for home use. I didn’t set the password as if password is forgotten I can’t recover it back and only way to re-use the disk is by formatting.The hard disk has a small led indicator which can be turned off from the WD Discovery settings if required.I was able to backup all my YouTube video edits with ease and quickly, also was able to back up my Dropbox.I don’t see any cons as of now, and since I haven’t contacted the customer service I can’t comment on that part.————————-💖 WHAT I LIKED————————-◾ 3 years warranty◾ Good looking and light weight◾ Automatic backup, Password protection + 256bit Encryption◾ Fast read and write speeds——————-🥇 OVERALL——————-A great hard disk at a good pricing. This is my 10th Seagate HDD purchase. I really love seagate external hard drives. I have 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB. A few days ago, when i saw this new model edition and i thought of giving it try. I liked the design but the problem is its in ”exFAT” system format. Usually, most of the drive will be in NTFS which is quite user friendly. But this ”exFAT” has biggest problem with transfer speed. So, i have to format to NTFS and now, transfer speed is good. So, as of now, its better to go for older model than new one. Because full formatting takes hours and it just painful and consumes time. Yes, you can go for quick format but full format identifies bad sectors and it literally completes formatting procedure.Of course, ”exFAT” is advance file system of FAT32. And also it detected with Sony LED TV. But the problem is transfer speed. And also i read the file system formats in Seagate website, especially about ”exFAT” file system, kindly see below:”exFAT: generally compatible with Mac and Windows. exFAT is not a journaled file system which means it can be more susceptible to data corruption when errors occur or the drive is not disconnected properly from the computer”This is not user friendly but you have to format it to NTFS to make it as user friendly. Therefore, i leave it up to you, guys! and its your call for going for this new edition of Seagate.

NOTE: All are tested on windows 10 with USB 3.0 compatible port & cable.writing speed: I got maximum of 109MB/s for *.zip file avg 50MB/s for some *.mkv files to exFAT & NTFS formatreading Speed: avg 100MB/s for same *.zip file maximum 110MB/s for *.mkv file I am facing heating issue while transferring files & connected standby.

Après lecture de plusieurs tutos youtube afin de me rendre compte des possibilités de chacun, ainsi que de la simplicité de l’interface, mon choix s’est d’abord arrêté sur la marque Synology. L’interface est identique sur tous leurs modèles, accessible via un navigateur Web, c’est ensuite un problème de performance matériel qui va permettre de s’orienter sur un modèle plutôt qu’un autre.J’ai finalement choisi le DS218play, celui qui par rapport à mon besoin et mon budget répondait le plus à mes attentes. Facile à équiper, je lui ai mis deux disques durs spécial NAS de 4To chacun, montés en miroir pour assurer la sécurité en cas de crash d’un disque. Possibilité de monter des disques 2,5’’, mais il faudra ajouter un adaptateur, vendu séparément. Beaucoup d’applications fournies, installable à la méthode du Play-store Google, ou de iTune, permettent de faire de votre NAS un peu plus qu’un simple stockeur de fichier. J’ai installé l’application cloud de Synology, qui me permet de synchroniser automatiquement mon dossier « mes documents », et ainsi, en plus de posséder une sauvegarde de ce dossier, j’accède à mes fichiers de partout. Comparable à Dropbox, Onedrive, et autre, pour ceux qui connaissent.La station multimédia permet également de stocker vos fichiers multimédia, et y accéder sur votre NAS via un portail à la façon du Prime Vidéo Amazon. Les imagettes et description de film sont automatiquement issues d’internet. L’avantage est que même sur votre téléphone, via l’application « DS Video », avec votre connexion 4G ou une connexion Wifi, vous pouvez accéder à vos fichiers multimédia et les regarder sur votre téléphone, sans les avoir préalablement chargé sur ce dernier. Vous avez également possibilité de vous en servir en hébergement web, tout y est pour créer votre site, votre blog, forum, site e-commerce,… beaucoup de possibilités déjà présentes dans les package d’installation.L’accès à votre NAS depuis Internet se fait facilement, et seulement si vous souhaitez donner un accès depuis Internet, dans le cas contraire, vous en interdisez l’accès depuis la configuration du NAS. La connexion se fait soit par http, soit sécurisé en HTTPS, c’est à votre choix. Tout accès est bien entendu effectué par login et mot de passe.Je ne regrette pas du tout mon achat, au contraire, depuis que j’y pensais, je me demande pourquoi je ne l’ai pas acheté plus tôt. Works great! Good solid build, charging and data transfer speeds are v impressive. Highly recommend 👌👍Super bad shipping though…..! And completely pathetic work ethic on part of the delivery people. Was fulfilled by Amazon so.. at least we know who to blame here. But don’t let the shipping stop u from getting this, it’s a good cable and well worth the price.

I am using this USB cable with a dash board camera in my car. I was looking for a long and sturdy ‘USB 2.0 to Mini B’ cable and bought this one. It’s working fine without any issues so far. It’s made in China (obviously) and quite sturdy as well.

I ordered the 45cm cable, and it actually (include the connector heads too) measures same. The material quality is just ok, not like the OEM type, but of decent finishing. I have doubt regarding the branding, as the markings in the cable nowhere mentioned it’s Storite branding, even the ‘Storite’ tag is also missing in my cable, instead it shows Garmin, and Made in China… I have attached the images. Afterall, it served the purpose, and data transfer rates are decent enough. So, somehow satisfied myself with the doubts, by looking at the price. Hope it serves well for a long time…
