(Refer Cons for a very important thing to perform on these HDD as soon as you receive them though that test would take about 11-12 Hours but you will be sure your Data is safe)Update: Empty/Brand-New HDD with no data should take only about 4 Hours for test to complete (1 Hour per 1TB), if HDD is completely full(data) then it would take about 11-12 hours to complete the test.Would suggest to run test after filling it up completely.Also, don’t move the HDD while its running and dropping it from height can damage it .. Head could hit the platter leading to Physical Bad Sectors and Data Loss. (Minor Safety Measures)Pros:1. Transfer Rates (About 115 MB/s Reads and about 90-110 MB/s Write Speeds | Also reads/writes depends on how data is on the HDD Fragmented or Defragmented)2. Looks Good from outside3. Capacity of about 3.63 TB Usable.4. (But don’t know if its just me with this kind of unfortunate experience)- I Bought two 4TB WD My Passports from Amazon in a span of 2 months…- And it took me about 1 Month 26 Days to fill up 4TB..- After which i realized one of my HDD had Bad Sectors… and i lost about 64GB of data due to it- And then while i was creating a RMA on WD Website…- I thought lets run the SMART Extended Test on my another healthy My Passport HDD and i was suprised my 2nd HDD had Bad Sectors as wellHow to perform this Test which checks for Bad Sectors/Phyically Damaged Sectors:1. Download :Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic from WD Website2. Install, Connect your My Passport HDD, Launch the program.3. Double click(left click) your My Passport Drive from the list of drives.4. A Menu pops-up, Click Extended Test. Another pop-up will appear Click OK. ( Make sure no program is using your My Passport HDD)5. Let it run would take about 11-12 Hours to complete and if it finds too many Bad Sectors Program will abort with error.(If you have some different error you can google “Data Lifeguard Diagnostics Error Code List” and find what kind of error you are getting..)6. If It aborts you know you need to Return the drive or you need to get it replaced under warranty.
Good space, good looks, good connection, not very quick but does the job. however, sometimes it does not get recognized and you gotta do a thing in your control panel (“add new device” after which it suddenly gets recognized).
Horrible experience! The product did not fuction at all!!! Doubt regarding the authenticity of item supplied. Shame on Sony… Or shame on Amazon???
High Speed data rate and best quality. I bought seagate hard drive 1 year ago and it had a problem in just one month, but this sony hard drive doesn’t have any problems i am using it from past 6 months
transfers with 100Mb/s average on USB 3(blue port) and 32Mb/s on USB 2(black port) on pc… simple as that… fits in jeans back pocket…
A decent drive to backup your data. Offers speed upto 90mb/s when used with a USB 3.0 port. The casing is plastic so it is surely not rugged. I would recommend this only to those who want to take backups and store the drive away safely with less transportation. Better to get a hard case for storage and transportation. The red colour looks refreshing. The bundled cable is short like what most offer.

Ordered this on freedom sale and got this for only 3600. I was deciding between WD or Seagate but ended up on this as WD is somewhat more reputable than the latter.Now coming onto the HDD it’s as good as it can be , the read write speeds are amazing and touches 100 MBps when copying one big file but slows down when copying multiple smaller file but this is not a fault of HDD so it’s all good. LED notification light is also not that aggressively lit so you can easily work at night in dark. No vibration or any annoying sounds so it’s definitely a plus.One thing I didn’t like that much is the guild quality. The plastic used is cheap and flimsy and does not feel sturdy in hand so if it falls down goodbye forever. Plastic quality could have been better.You need to register you Product at WD portal to avail warranty in future so do that as soon as you get it. It provides 2 years warranty instead of 3 years like Seagate so that’s also somewhat off-putting.So overall nice for cheap unimportant data backup but I wouldn’t trust this for important sensitive personal data as build quality is cheap but biggest plus is its affordability in fact go for Seagate or WD they both are good.Well so far so good but if any problem arise in future will update… happy Independence day.
This is awesome external hard disk if you want to purchase a new hard disk 1TB then I would suggest to you the quality is really good I am using this hard since 6 months and I have been faced any problem.
