This is my 10th Seagate HDD purchase. I really love seagate external hard drives. I have 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB. A few days ago, when i saw this new model edition and i thought of giving it try. I liked the design but the problem is its in ”exFAT” system format. Usually, most of the drive will be in NTFS which is quite user friendly. But this ”exFAT” has biggest problem with transfer speed. So, i have to format to NTFS and now, transfer speed is good. So, as of now, its better to go for older model than new one. Because full formatting takes hours and it just painful and consumes time. Yes, you can go for quick format but full format identifies bad sectors and it literally completes formatting procedure.Of course, ”exFAT” is advance file system of FAT32. And also it detected with Sony LED TV. But the problem is transfer speed. And also i read the file system formats in Seagate website, especially about ”exFAT” file system, kindly see below:”exFAT: generally compatible with Mac and Windows. exFAT is not a journaled file system which means it can be more susceptible to data corruption when errors occur or the drive is not disconnected properly from the computer”This is not user friendly but you have to format it to NTFS to make it as user friendly. Therefore, i leave it up to you, guys! and its your call for going for this new edition of Seagate.

At the heart of the matter, the write speeds are low, in my case virtually “0”. Crystal disk mark for a 64Bit Windows machine is given.Would recommend some other Tier 1 brands instead of this if the drive is used for backup, you need good and sustained speeds, which this drive does not giveOn the positive the product looks good, much nicer than the earlier gen for sure.

NOTE: All are tested on windows 10 with USB 3.0 compatible port & cable.writing speed: I got maximum of 109MB/s for *.zip file avg 50MB/s for some *.mkv files to exFAT & NTFS formatreading Speed: avg 100MB/s for same *.zip file maximum 110MB/s for *.mkv file I am facing heating issue while transferring files & connected standby.

Segate is good and old Brand but not a user friendly. Free Seagate Rescue – 2 Year Data Recovery Plan Instruction book doesn’t have in English and when I spoke with Customer care they said this service will be one time free with in the 2years of warranty from 2nd time it will chargeble.Mobile Backup facility will be remove after 2018 it seems. Its also S#**####s doesn’t work at all. Please go for the Basic one instead of paying more and buying this product.

I purchased this product and this comes with a year subscription of Kaspersky AV. But unfortunately I never got the AV I called up Seagate and they never answered and Amazon is saying it will be provided by Seagate. So all I can say it is a cheap trick. I have bought 2TB BK plus slim HDD in March 2017 and I had checked it first time it was working fine. After six months second time I tried to connect my drive to PC now it is not showing and beeping. I tried to find the online solution nothing is working. I spent 6500 INR and my external HDD is not working I’m very upset and NOT happy with the product of Amazon.

The hard disc is not working at all… it is a faulty product…Please tell whether it will be replaced or I have to claim for warranty. At first I tried to connect it to my desktop..it was not connecting…I thought that their could be any problem with my desktop. So I brought a friend’s laptop and found that it is not connecting to the laptop too.

I am a home user and my requirements are not that much limited for backing up my thousands of precious pictures, video clips, movies and loads of music files. That’s why I was a bit confused for disc size selection in capacity as well as for selecting the brand. But after a few research I got confirmed that I should go for Seagate only because it is trusted brand qualitywise and this would be the best choice for me because I am kind of ruf user while juggling out with my electronic media. Now still the one thing that had been left for me to choose the required enough storage size. After some calculations I decided to go for Seagate 1TB and if otherwise in future I required anymore so I will go and purchase another separate disc accordingly because rather putting all back-up of my all devices data (My PC/Laptop/Mobile etc.) in one disc than it would be better to buy another separate storage accordingly.So now all ready to go for Seagate 1TB storage device eventuality. After receiving and start using this initially I easily got to realize that trust me for being as a Homeuser though, the 1TB of storage back-up has been more than enough for me. May be I had gotten a slight confused due to available other available seagate discs with higher storage capacity models earlier.Hmm at the very first time when I’d connected it to my computer it just got registered automatically so that the warranty activation process became hassle free for me. On all usages this disc works so smoothly and the data transferring speed is very good. It took less than 45 minutes for transferring the whole back-up from my PC. As if I could mention that it is supposed to run without any heating issue and does not make any humming noise at all like others data storage devices. I also like the LED light that indicates the connectivity to your PC.Of course its size is incredibly considerable because it is very compact. You can put it inside your pocket and it just doesn’t have a weight issue, and it just as easy to hold as your mobile phone.If I say Seagate disk has been working for me as a multi-tasker device that won’t be wrong. Because after buying a single Seagate disk my all data from my PC, from my Mobile has been covered towards safety back-up.All in all in my opinion this Seagate Backup Plus device resolves its purpose in a very smooth and dedicated way 🙂 I Am Happy & All Satisfied!*Please click the Helpful button if you liked this review. Amazing external HDD. I got the 1 TB Backup Plus Slim version. It’s indeed super slim, super lightweight and portable. It’s smaller in size than any current smartphone and just a tad thicker! It comes with a short 3.0 USB cable which is about 2 ft long; perfect for quick connection and disconnection. It’s quite sturdy and can withstand some good shuffling around your couch/bed while still seamlessly processing data. It also comes with a backup utility and file management software already installed on the drive but I can’t comment on those features since I don’t use them.I use this as my main Hard Drive for my new laptop/tablet convertible. The internal drive of my laptop is an SSD which is amazingly fast. However, constantly adding and removing data to SSDs is known to deteriorate them. It’s also bad idea to fill SSDs up to near capacity. As such, I keep my internal drive for Windows 10 and core programs such as my web browser. That allows my computer to keep running lightning fast right from the moment I press the power button.I use this Seagate Backup Plus Slim for absolutely everything else from work related software and files to entertainment media like music, movies and video games to my DAW (musician studio recording and mixing software). The Seagate works fast and awesome for all these purposes.One word of caution, and it’s not a hit against this product, but always remember to disconnect the drive from your laptop at night. The USB ports on modern laptops remain active even when the computer is completely off. Overnight, the Seagate HDD drained 45% of my battery all by itself while my laptop was off.
