I’m writing this after using this kindle for six months.WHAT THIS KINDLE HAVE AND PAPERWHITE DOESN’T::: this kindle has a “Voiceview screen reader”, it means if you connect to a bluetooth speaker it will read the book aloud for you. this option is not there in paperwhite..battery::: at beginning when you charge once you can use it for a week, but no it drains in five to six days an it also depends on how much you read. also, if you switch on wifi then battery may drain in two days or even quicker. you should e on airplane mode to get good battery life. when you connect to your computer it takes one and half hour to two hours to charge full. when it got fully charged indicating light turn to green from orange.screen::: it have touch screen, which is so sensitive. when you are reading if a house fly sits on screen it activates the screen and it will show the meaning of the word where it sat(long touch to see a meaning of unknown word). you can slide even with a pen cap. screen is a bit inside to its border frame so dust formation at the corners and it is difficult to clean. you can change the font size to make the letters biggers or smaller. it also provide landscape view(change in settings). it shows battery and time on right top.flipcover::: flipcover is also important, because you need not to press the power but when you start or finish reading. when you close it automatically goes in power saving mode. when you open it, it shows what you are reading. if you press the power button and off the screen you get even good battery life.dictionary::: kindle has oxford dictionary pre installed and you can also download merriam-webster’s dictionary also. it has other language to english dictionaries ( like german, italian, french, japanese, chinese, gujarathi, malayalam..) but you need to download them. kindle also has word wise, when you switch it on kindle shows meaning for tough word just above the word(you need nor to again do anything). but some books doesnt have this option.reading experience::: at first it may be inconvenient, but on use it feels normal. there are lot of book on kindle store. but when you read pdf, it is very inconvenient, this is not for pdf files. also the processing speed not good, it feels very slow. it stores lots of books may be hundred. there will be no distractions, no ads or anything you can totally concentrate on what you read.glare::: if you go into intense sun it gives glare like shine. but in normal conditions it is good.browser::: it has experimental browser when you connects to wifi, it can connect to wikipedia and to google. but slowly.

Guys..,🤓.If you are in the mindset of ” To Buy or Not to Buy “,🤨 you are in the same position of myself before ordering Kindle..So let me express my views after using Kindle for months.🤠.1, E-INK technology🧐.- unlike LCD display on mobile/ tablet, only the letters pop-up on a white background. ( new experience for me ).- not at all weary, even using for hours ( unless you’re bored with the content of the book )🤕.- low power consumption & we will be charging the device on monthly basis unlike mobile phones.😌.2, Library in your hand📚.- most cost effective way to read a book in this era💰.- 4GB internal memory can store thousands of books at once. ( well after that save it in your lap or del previous read books ).- always gets sync with Amazon cloud, so you never lost book neither worry about the purchased book..3, Not Good for PDF files 😔.- we can read in PDF format but it’s very raw..- best format for Kindle is .mobi & all Amazon books are in this format..- gets easily connected to PC & can edit the contents & transfer files.4, Reading experience.😇.- gets some time for adjusting to this reading.- zero distractions & no pop up ads.- contains Library, Kindle store, Vocabulary builder, Experimental browser & Goodreads..- can search for words & also have in built dictionary & Wiki results..- wifi connects fast & syncs with Amazon account..- also shared with my dad & now he uses it more than me.😶………TIPS…….😎..1, Google search Calibre software and install it in your PC.It saves all the books and also edits external format into Kindle mobi for reading in our device ..2, Many ” good ” 😉 e-book stores with free content available on internet..3, Subscribe to Kindle Unlimited ( first month free ) monthly plan and download 1000 books for free and save it for future reads.Kindle Unlimited is a whole lot of books for free reading & enjoy the package.😬.4, Buy a flip cover within 500 rupees🙃 and it helps in automatically shut down the screen when closed..5, Don’t go for Paperwhite which has in built lit display but everything else same & about 5k more 🤐…..VERDICT 🤔……..Kindle wins ….✌️✌️.Finally, do tick the “Helpful” option below thereby helping others for an easier decision..Thank you 🤗….

  5. I currently own 2 Kindles: 7th Gen Paperwhite and 2nd Gen Oasis (yes, I like to pamper myself while reading). Both fell short for various reasons. The 7th Gen Paperwhite’s screen is not flush and is prone to picking up dust or lint between the bezel and the screen. Its battery life is not as long-lasting as its predecessor (the 6th Gen PW probably has the most outstanding battery life of all Kindles), and I also made the mistake of using it in tandem with the luxurious Oasis. The 2nd Gen Oasis came with many wonderful technological breakthroughs – a gorgeous 7-inch display, the battery stacked to one side which made it easier to hold with one hand, waterproof capability, and the extra storage – but it disappointed me at one key aspect: the ability to hold it for a long period of time. You see, the 2nd Gen Oasis was the first model to sport a metallic finish on the back. The reasoning behind this might have been to lend it a premium finish, but it is also had the unintended consequence of being very slippery, especially if your palms tend to sweat a lot. Add to this the fact that the edges were sharp and liable to dig into your skin. I have been using the Oasis regularly since launch day and the device still doesn’t feel like ‘mine’. I keep adjusting my hold and grip while reading after every few minutes – this is not something you expect to do after nearly a year of heavy use.Hence, despite the fact that I already use 2 Kindles, the 10th Gen Paperwhite instantly caught my eye. Thankfully, purchasing it has turned out to be an addition of utility rather than overkill. With the new model, Amazon has realized the pinnacle of its vision for Kindle design and technology.– The flush screen, just like the one on Oasis 2, is aesthetically pleasing to read.– The new version is the lightest Paperwhite ever, which makes holding it for long periods even less of a chore. Gone are the days of switching hands or grips at regular intervals.– The rounded edges don’t dig into my hand and let me focus completely on my reading.– I am not one for using my Kindles near pools or while enjoying a bath, so waterproof capability comes in useful only if I ever happen to spill some sort of liquid on it.Overall, if you are looking to upgrade to the 10th Gen Paperwhite for the features, then it might not present a whole lot of exciting new boxes to consider. But, from a design standpoint, the latest version truly excels at stripping away the noise even further, and transporting you into your own private bookish world.Update (23/11/18): So I contacted Amazon Support regarding the update problem. The device was failing to update (via WiFi and USB) to the v5.10.1.2, which happens to be the latest version. The response from Amazon Support: “I’d like to inform you that this is a known issue and a master ticket has already has been raised and the issue has been escalated and we are waiting for the update.”They also assured that the problem was just a software problem, NOT a hardware problem. So I’m going to just sit tight and wait for the software patch to arrive. No big deal.Update (30/11/18): Update to v5.10.1.3 successful. No more pending issues with the device.

Mind blowing purchase. This is my second kindle. I already own basic kindle but thats difficult to read at night. But this kindle paperwhite 10th gen has inbuilt light which makes my night reading experience fantastic. I love the design and its sleek which is easy to hold for a long time.I like the resolution , clarity and battery backup.(The only option i could not find is DISABLE TOUCH.)It has the features of kindle voyage and oasis. That is FLUSH SCREEN, WATER PROOF and like Oasis we can invert the background (black background with white letters). We can connect bluetooth and hear the audios of our favourite books.Over all its a boon to avid readers..EDIT : Review of Kindle 10th gen after 2 months of usage : Everything is fine as i described before.DISABLE TOUCH option is enabled after further updation. Also battery percentage is displayed at the top of the kindle. I’m enjoying my fav books with my fav kindle..

I was skeptic about buying a kindle thinking how much I would miss the paperback thing. I tried reading ebooks on laptop and also on mobile even in the kindle app, nothing worked anywhere near the paperback experience.Allured by the pre-order offers, bought this one and I am loving it (it’s only the fourth day I am using it though, still I’m loving it). A great thing is that I can change the font and spacing, something that I couldn’t do in the paperback. This is my first kindle so can’t really compare with other versions. But if you are a paperback fan and thinking whether a kindle is worth it, I would say you must give this one a try and you will definitely love it.EDIT: It’s almost 1.5 months with the Kindle, I read almost everyday and I’m still loving it.The backlight thing has solved many problems that a paperback has: I can sit with my kindle by the dark riverside in the evening, I can switch off my room lights before going to bed and not get up later to switch them off after reading a little, I can read it under a blanket in winter and I can read it in train and flight regardless of whether the ambient lights are on or not.I just hope this device lasts long. If I face any problem with this device later or I stop loving it, I’ll update this review.

  8. I purchased this in May 2017 and after using it for almost 1.5 years I am more than satisfied with the cover. When it came the cover did not close properly but after using it for so long I have gotten used to it. The picture attached is of today so you can gauge the durability from this.

I bought it yesterday, switched from right to left. Although it was very difficult finding an apt sized cover for my old anti glare basic model, this one came with love at first sight. Two cons- not very colourful, and makes you think kindle heavy. Loving it otherwise. The guy even called to confirm if I own the older kindle and I’ve ordered right fit

A very good quality flap cover for Kindle at a reasonable price. Made of plastic and rubber. This is not for Kindle Paperwhite, but but the Kindle 8 generation which costs 5999. This has a magnetic lock on the flap and when you close the flap the device goes to sleep mode and when opened it is unlocked automatically. Looks solid and really cool.Click on the ‘Helpful’ button if you liked this review.

The cover is pretty good and goes perfectly with Kindle Touch. One of the best purchases I made recently. Here is what I thought of it after using it for 2 daysPros:1) Finishing is excellent, fits perfectly to Kindle Touch2) Magnet based closing mechanism for folio like cover3) Closing the cover puts Kindle in sleep mode (with a battery saving screen-saver); opening the cover wakes it up again4) Back plastic shell looks sturdy enough to survive 1-2 minor falls5) Inside of front cover carries soft tissue like (microfiber) material which won’t scratch Kindle’s screenCons:1) A bit pricey, should have costed ₹500 only, but still a cheaper alternative to Kindle cover (which unnecessarily costs around 1K)2) Front cover should have been thicker, not sure how much impact resistance it offers3) The back plastic shell should have been slightly pronounced around the four corners to offer “Bumper-Cover” like protection which may have made the Kindle survive a flat face-down fall; however, it isn’t the caseAll in all, pretty good and you must own this if you have a Kindle.

It’s a good case for your Kindle. Yes, it does smell, but it doesn’t bother me at all. The quality is good and the pockets are useful for the USB cable and small things. I am overall satisfied with it.

Case is an exact fit, inserting and removing the Kindle from the case is difficult. The plastic frame is sturdy though a Silicone Gel one would have been better, but will not be easy to fit the magnets in such a construction. Outer material is some kind of Rexine. Quality is good and the device will be well protected from drops and scratches. The magnetic mechanism of turning on the kindle when opening works well too. The only con is that it is very heavy, almost weighs as much as the Kindle, highly recommended though.

I travel everyday to office by either local train or bus. Kindle e-book reader stays inside my laptop bag. So whenever, I get a seat inside any public transport vehicle, I take out my e-book reader and start reading from it. I have been doing it for the last one year. The device not only provide pleasant reading experience but convenient to hold as well. Do I then really need a cover? It never strikes my mind in the first place. Neither did I ever intend to purchase it. My office colleagues are aware of my fondness for the device. So they decided to present me a flip cover case as a kindle book reader accessory, on my last birthday 2 months back. Though not excited with the product but was however glad for the gesture. When I first opened it, I was charmed by its look. It not only fits well but adorns the otherwise dull looking but extremely useful kindle device. After use, I was absolutely delighted. A customer before purchase of such product will look for any or some of these factors – Style, Protection and Convenience. It’s purported to provide all the three. Though the built and leather feel provides the durability, protection and style but on the flip side, the weight is now almost doubled. However, this does not act as a deterrent. As mentioned by other reviewers, it sleeps and awake with shutting and opening of flips respectively. The one option which overrides others for me is convenience. Since the cover goes all the way to the back, you can actually make the kindle device stand; as per your reading convenience for that matter. It works well for readers who have the habit of reading books lying down, with head resting on the pillow with upper part of the torso at 20-30 degree angle. In this posture, you can make the device stand on chest and your hands are free. This gives me a unique but convenient mode of reading. The flip cover compliments kindle reader well. This is a useful addition which certainly adds value to your e-book reader. Before going for such products, please check whether it is compatible with your device. A good collection item which you won’t regret.

I picked this up for INR 599 and I got to tell you, for the price this case is awesome. It is well made, fits perfectly and looks premium, at-least now. I will find out eventually how it will hold. But for now, I am super happy with this buy. I wasn’t expecting anything like this, going by recent experiences I had buying cases and covers. But this is a definite winner.

Pros1) Can read Bengali ebook in pdf, so surely would also be able to read bengali epub2) Can operate on touchscreen wearing woollen gloves.3) Since I don’t own a PC/laptop. I side load ebooks using my Android tv box. So I’m guessing you can use your Android /smart tv too. You can’t side load from any other android device simply bcz they don’t have usb port. Just connect and click on “turn on usb”(or something like that) prompt on Nook. I use Es File Explorer on Tv box. On that I click on Usb drive and choose Open.4) screen backlight and option to move slider to warmer shade is cool5) It beats Kindle as it can read epub whereas Kindle cannot6) Soft, plush exterior . Feels like good quality.ConsHaven’t noticed any yet.

It feels even more comfortable than the first generation. Developer options are easily activated by clicking the Nook icon in the About menu of the options so you can load apps and such on it. As no pictures of the back of it exist anywhere, I will say that the indentation at the back of it is gone. The front plastic edges are no longer sharp and uncomfortable and it is easier to hold. all surfaces are rounded and comfortable on the skin It is an improvement.ProsHigh pixel density and I can see the difference from the first generation of the deviceDrastically improved light bleeding from the top.The brightness slider works better. It used to go from 0% brightness to 80% brightness if you moved the slider 1/4 of the way. Now, The slider is more representative of the illumination amount.I put a bunch of .epub files on it and they were ready to be read immediately. The dictionary search function is now better. Pressing and holding a word gives you the definition straight away. Before, you had to press and hold, and select the option to get the word definition which was a very unnecessary extra click.Get it.

I did not realize how well designed this was until I tried the Kindle Voyage. Wow is it a different experience! The Voyage is actually painful to hold for longer than a few minutes unless you use both hands (no wonder the case is essentially a kick stand). So, for all the software short falls, this absolutely wins for ergonomics and hardware. I get why the bezel is so large now as well: If you make it any smaller you can’t hold the device one handed. The only two kindle features I miss are being able to look up words in a foreign language and being able to organize things into Collections (the “my shelves” feature doesn’t really work) so it loses a star for those. However, as both of these are software not hardware issues I’m sure someone will fix them sooner or later.

+++++PROS+++++1.Sleek and solidly built. It looks very nice (but seems like it would be easily damaged if dropped).2.Perfectly even screen illumination. Much better than my Paperwhite.3.Larger screen, less page turns, larger pictures and graphics.4.Faster page turns than any other Kindle I have seen. Waterproof (nice, but not a huge selling point for me). Fast screen rotation when changing hands. Audible. I haven’t tried this yet, but definitely a good feature, even if you can’t listen and read at the same time.+++++CONS+++++1.It’s expensive.2.It’s heavy. I’m surprised at this. They should have stuck with plastic to keep the weight down. It’s wide. Not suitable to carry in your pocket. I can cram my Paperwhite into my back pocket but not the Oasis.3.It’s slippery. This is my biggest complaint. The metal is smooth and hard to grip. It is not easy or comfortable to hold for a long time. Reading in bed is even harder if you need to hold it up vertically because it is very difficult to find a good grip that also allows access to the page buttons. I was constantly hitting them by accident.4.The auto brightness doesn’t seem to work at all for me, I have never seen it adjust even going from a dark to light room. 5.Battery life has not been great as compared to other kindles. So while there is a lot to like, I am debating returning it due to the difficulty in holding it for long periods of time. At this premium price, it should be more ergonomic. I am tempted to buy the previous Oasis model, which is much lighter and smaller, even though I like the larger screen. Ultimately I think most people will be just fine with a Paperwhite. The weight is similar and it is much easier to hold. I will use it for a few more days and see how it goes and adjust my review accordingly if my opinion changes one way or another.

I have tried Kindle Paperwhite, the base model Kindle and now Oasis. First of all if you want the tldr as to should you spend this much money over a e-reader, here is my verdict: Yes, if you are going to read only in Kindle nothing else. This is epitome of design by Amazon. The ergonomics of this precious piece of gadgets are outmatched. I wish phones and tablets would think like this too. I am someone who puts industrial design over other aspects of a gadget so for me spending 21,000 Rs. is totally worth it.Oasis as a Kindle:Yes as a kindle product nothing gets better than Oasis. It just is something else. You can understand it when you hold it. The soft, cold metal and the gorgeous display, the tactile buttons and the almost perfect weight distribution sets this reader ahead, miles ahead of any competition. If you like to get away from physical books and you’re afraid it won’t feel the same anymore, trust me, Oasis will give you almost equal feel with your book as a whole.Oasis as an e-reader:As a legitimate e-reader, Oasis almost gets everything correct. But other cheaper versions get it correct too. There is almost no difference in Oasis and the recent Paperwhite. Waterproof, 300 ppi display, flat screen (Not recessed) and the same UI.What it gets little bit better in is, the page turn buttons. They are placed right where your thumbs rest, they are tactile enough, they can be assigned as per your choice, they adjust according to orientation, and in some parts of your device you can use it to navigate the UI. Nothing more is required. Maybe Amazon can find a way to make buttons work in times we needed to scroll. But that’s nitpicking.Oasis Display:I would compare Oasis and Paperwhite for their almost identical display. If you have the regular kindle, that is not in the competition at all. Except for the 12 LEDs in Oasis in place of 6 in Paperwhite, there is not much difference here. Contrast is almost the same and text is equally sharp. But guess what those double amount of LEDs light up the screen uniformly so you will notice much more comfort in brightness. The auto brightness is another feature which makes eye strain even more minimal. If you are a sucker for display or if you find yourself constantly changing the brightness in your current kindle or constantly trying to hold it in a particular place to set the angle correct, time to upgrade my friend.Battery Life:Keep the display brightness to auto, WiFi off and 30-50 mins a day, you’re good to go about 5-6 weeks. There is nothing much to talk about here. We charge almost every device daily today. And you will forget to charge your kindle because it lasts long enough. Charging is fast enough and there is a LED indicator. I mean this is perfect now.OS:You can invert colours, you can set custom fonts, you can bold till any level you want, you can change margins, you can change orientation, you can change the density of display. This is by far the main reason for me to read on an e-reader.The software is responsive, maybe slow to change but you are not using it to navigate. Once you’ve set it up, you’re gonna read. So it doesn’t matter.Purchasing books directly is a breeze. Downloading and whispersync is almost magical. You will never realise how many factors worked on background to make that perfect 30 min read. But it works so you don’t need to know.Verdict:For me yes it is worth every penny. I don’t care if the edges dig in my palm I will change hands, I don’t care if the metal is cold I like it, I love that it balances nicely in my hand, I love that the e-ink display is almost like a real book page, and I love that the brightness changes magically and sets your eye for a treat, I love I can turn pages with button which are right below where my thumb is naturally resting. All this is worth it for me as Kindle now can be an investment for long term. For you who likes to read sometimes, or already has many books, doesn’t care about how sharp or contrasty the display is, or maybe you have a tablet and you’re happy reading on it, go out and physically check out a kindle model. It will fancy you, and it will make you go wow. Get it then, If it still doesn’t I am jealous of you as you are satisfied with the world the way it is around you. Kudos Amazon.

It’s a good case for your Kindle. Yes, it does smell, but it doesn’t bother me at all. The quality is good and the pockets are useful for the USB cable and small things. I am overall satisfied with it.

The kindle product is great. But good luck if something goes wrong after warranty. I have had two kindles go bad..one after one year ( just after warranty ) and another after 3 years. In both cases it was not due to any misuse or physical damage. And there was nothing I could do. You are expected to just throw the kindle away. The least Amazon can do is to provide a means to fix kindles. These are not inexpensive devices by any means. Hope Amazon is paying attention to this.

  86. Be aware that amazon don’t give any repair service for kindle. If you are out of warranty and if you need some service, they will simply ask you to buy new device. After using device for 2 years, I have a defective switch for my kindle paper white and they simply reject to repair option. Instead they will ask you to buy a new one. I have fully functional device and only switch is defective. Still they didn’t honour the request to repair for a fee. So bad service

  87. I am using this device since 1 year (May 2015). There was no issue with the device till this month first week (July 2016). I found the device completely drained out and showing only ‘exclamatory sign’ over the power button in the screen . I charged it 5-6 hours continuously. Even then nothing had happened. When I contacted AMAZON KINDLE SERVICE they are saying that the product’s software is old version, I should upgrade the software version. But when I make them understand that the product is not in working mode then they clearly said as the product is out of warranty they can not replace or repair it ! I understand that replacement can not be taken place, but not even the repair??? AS A SELLER, AMAZON IS GLOBALLY SELLING SUCH A “ELECTRONIC DEVICE WHICH IS NOT EVENT REPAIRABLE !!!! BE VERY VERY VERY VERY CAUTIOUS BEFORE PURCHASE KINDLE.

It’s a good case for your Kindle. Yes, it does smell, but it doesn’t bother me at all. The quality is good and the pockets are useful for the USB cable and small things. I am overall satisfied with it.

I liked this product as unlike some other products on Amazon, it’s of actual use and is of good quality. What I dislike is the size, the button accessibility and the auto close option which is missing.I’d like a tightly fitting cover, although this one doesn’t comprise with safety and serves the purpose rightly. The button is a bit deep inside and I have to struggle a bit to press it.Unlike many other covers for kindle, this does not have an automatically screen sleep on closure of cover feature. Thanks,Rishabh Jain

If the cover is inserted in the right direction, the machine is always ON. However it works correctly when the cover is inserted the wrong way (upside down). Checked thoroughly whether any switches are getting pressed by the cover, but no issues were noticed. Very strange.

Understanding that it’s very difficult to find a Kindle cover that fits a Kindle E-reader 6″ Glare-Free Touchscreen Display, 7th Generation, so this is one of the best option for the device. I did extensive search both on Amazon US and Amazon India and was so happy to find this. It made me even happier for it came in my favorite color. To add more, the fact that Amazon India didn’t sell that type of Kindle, made you sensed a big relief knowing there is this cover that fits your device perfectly. However, I had to return this because I am not familiar using Stylus – never had any device with Stylus before. So the extra add on became disadvantage for technotard like me. Else, I would definitely pick this over any other cover from the same brand!

The product meets is said requirements. The case fits Kindle very snugly. Removing it again after once fitting is almost impossible, the cover might break if tried hard. The stylus is almost useless. It’s cost may as-well be reduced from the product and not sold along with this cover. Auto-sleep works nicely. It started working after a software upgrade.Much satisfied, except for the magnet. It is not enough strong and the hold is very weak. Reduced 1-star for the weak magnet.

  156. I opted for the blue color. It fits pretty well and the matt case gives my Kindle an elegant look. Only the magnetic lock could have been a little better..otherwise it’s a value for money product and deserve a five star. The delivery service from the seller was good. Will recommend for Kindle users who would be interested in a cheaper but quality alternative to the original case from Amazon.
