Having Echo dot in wish list, purchasing Echo Input was one shot decision to take considering its 1.5k cheaper & have full Alexa capabilities except speaker. As soon as I saw it on Amazon, I ordered it. But soon i realized that there are certain things to be taken care of if we get this device instead of Echo Dot on offer.I will try to list down pros & cons to make you decide wisely on its purchase.•••••••••••••••INSIDE BOX•••••••••••••••1. Let me explain. Echo dot in general is available for 4499 while Input for 2999. Now thing is, many a times during sales Dot is offered for as low as 2999. So why not get a dot at same price if we have to shell out full 2999. Yes if Input is offered at discount say for 2k then it may be a good deal.▶ ASSISTANT WITHOUT INBUILT SPEAKER: Having a smart assistant without in built speaker may not be a good idea. Say your BT speaker goes to standby, or you mistakenly switched off your speaker etc. It would just blink its led & you may even miss your important meeting, as alarm wont sound. At this point Echo Dot seems a good choice as if on means its fully functional. While Echo input always needs a company. So if portability is a concern, go for Dot or others.▶ NO BATTERY: Continuous power required, but so is with every device in series.▶ LOOKS: Echo Dot looks better with its cloth mesh around & led ring on top. But again Echo input was not meant to be shown off & supposed to be kept hidden somewhere, still listening to your commands.▶ AUX OUT IN ECHO DOT TOO: Just like Input, Echo Dot also have aux out, so you are always free to discard its in built speaker for your external HiFi system.▶ Limited port options, No RCA/Optical output▶ Limited search results compared to other brand voice assistant as other one have access to vast search results▶ LOW OUTPUT: Many users on amazon.com & several reviewers (as was launched late in India) reported low output for line in, which was my sole purpose of getting this. This is not a case with Echo dot.••••••••SETUP••••••••Its as easy as 1,2,3.▶ Download alexa app from store▶ Login using same account used to purchase device.▶ You will find device alread registered there.▶ Configure features, add skills & you are good to go.P.S. It will come unregistered or alternatively you can deregister device via alexa app before gifting.•••••••••••••••••••FINAL VERDICT•••••••••••••••••••So guys, these are some points to consider while making a purchase decision for Echo Input or Echo Dot. But in all, you get an awesome piece of hardware, which will act as great assistant.▶If under tight budget & you have spare Aux/BT speaker around waiting to adopt Alexa smartness do get it without any second thought.▶If you can extend budget, then better get Echo dot▶Echo devices are frequently on offer & soon Echo input will come under same umbrella. You can wait for that time to get either Input at discount or Dot at current Inputs price.▶Echo series is like, theres something for everyone. The good thing about echo input is that it will turn your dumb Bluetooth speaker smart. In my case my HK aura 2 was used only to play songs over phone. Now i can get news, updates on my favorite teams, radio, my amazon music play lists , answer random questions, set timers and alarms. Never really needed my speaker for more than an hour use per day but now 24/7 i keep talking to the speaker 😀 The bad thing about echo is that it needs a lot more app interaction and alexa phone app is very lagging. If you plan to control your shield TV with voice you have to wait for an update as it isn’t available in India yet. This kind of delayed updates makes its potential not fully useful. Also the mic would fail to listen if the music is too loud.

One advise from me if you already have echo dot (3rd generation) and after that if you are thinking to buy echo input then don’t buy echo input. If you are think that it has built in battery and you can Carry anywhere for this reason you can buy a product that let you not to waste your money and that product is i-box portable power base for echo dot (3rd generation). It cost less then echo input and you can carry you echo dot anywhere. In echo input it has only 4000mah battery and it doesn’t have external USB port but in i-box run you get 10000mah battery and it has USB port (hear music from echo dot at same time you charge your phone too)If you want to make your echo dot wireless and carry anywhere just buy i-box run it is good for echo dot.Thank you.

The Yeelight is way better than other smart lights available in the market . It works with echo dot and other echo products also. We can control this smart light using yeelight app on the phone as well as google assistant in android phone. The best feature I like is music flow, according to which visualization of different light takes place as per rhythm of music. And it is way cheaper than Philips Hue.

It’s pretty good. U can go for it. For all the people not able to connect or having connection time out problem here is the solution -U need to have a Hotspot (phone or router) with an active internet connection (slow or fast doesn’t matter).Take another phone (keep its wifi off for now) install the yeelight app and switch on the bulb. Then start with the pairing process. The will automatically prompt you to switch on the wifi. Do that then it’ll search for the bulb. Select the bulb and then it’ll ask for connecting to router select the router/Hotspot you had set up earlier in 1st step and enter the password. (make sure u phone is being connected to that router/Hotspot for the first time)Wait for the setup to complete. I am sure it’ll connect. Please use an internet connected Hotspot or router and ur phone having the app must have data connection too. For further help kindly ask questions above I’ll help.

  15. I have used it for almost 4 months now I have three Phillips lights and two of these.Trust me the colour of the Phillips light is far much better and the control as well as the light quality is far much better than this. For example if I am changing the room lights from 8% to 2% I can see a considerable difference in the light intensity when I am using the Phillips bulb however when I use this one the light dimming between eight and 2% is barely noticeable

  16. Am giving one star because the remote works only the first two months and now its blinking and makes the TV auto switch OFF. The worst thing is, they do not have any Customer care whom you can call. Please do not buy or you will regret.

My Kevin LED TV Air remote got defective within one week of purchase and since then its a nightmare for me to get in touch with the customer care. I have started believing that there is no customer care of this product and its a fake. When you dial the number, they keep you waiting till you are forced to disconnect the call. Will comment on the quality of TV only after using it for some time, as i dont wanna provide hasty and misleading review.

This TV is so far working very good! I am happy using the Air Mouse. Love it! Big size and nice picture. Sound quality should be improved. On high volume it is like radio voice but on low volume it is okay.Overall: Recommended!!!

  19. This is very good hardware and speaker. However very much handicapped by amazon on software front. It can not understand your commands 70-80 percentage times and very limited to amazon music and saavn. However you can not use any of good music apps like wynk, gaana, youtube etc. Also natural language processing is supported in google products but not in this echo. For example when you say-1) where is agra – it gives you correct answer.2) continue with next query like how to reach there ?Then for 2nd query it doesn’t know what to do..This is just an example but most of the times you will find this issue there. Then you can not connect with other populer music etc apps. Have to rely on what amazon thinks os good for you.Amazon music has very limited music base.So looking forward to get more access and integration with alexa however not have much hope since its already such an old plateform that they would have given support if there were any such plans.

  20. It definitely has better speakers than Eco Dot Gen2 and Google Home Mini, but sound recognition is very poor compared to Google Home Mini or even previous Eco Dot. Maybe it has something to do with cost cutting and Amazon going with only 4 far field microphones instead of 7.But due to it’s poor recognition, it takes a lot of time, sometimes even minutes and does nothing… Which definitely takes away the experience. Unfortunately I can’t return it… But I think Google Home Mini is miles ahead and better with all the new updates to Google Assistant (Sleep assist and stuff).Update as on 27th April 2019: Software has gone from bad to worst. It plays certain songs again and again, doesn’t let you skip. Recognition has also gone from bad to worst, you have to yell for Alexa to understand what you want it to do only for it to tell you it doesn’t understand what you said. And expect no support from Amazon about eco devices, it’s very bad.

This was launched on 11th and I got the product by 12th. Plus the reduced price due to sale and a nice smart bulb for just 500 rupees. Overall I think this was super value for money. I haven’t used any other smart speaker before but I am very happy with my purchase. Below are some observations :1. Initially it feels a bit weird talking to a speaker but you get used to it in no time.2. The sound quality is pretty good. You get good depth of sound with decent bass.3. Several skills available and you will definitely find some very useful. For example adding stuff to shopping list or setting up a reminder.4. Understands the Indian accent very well. Sometimes I am amazed by how well it picks up stuff.6. Kids love it. An added advantage is that they can take help for homework and talking to alexa also motivates them to talk in English

The worst thing is that you have to keep your Bluetooth speaker away from this device because if I case both the devices put together than Alexa will not listen to your voice anymore

Echo Input2. Power adapter (5W)3. Micro USB cable4. 3.5mm AUX cable (1m)5. Quick Start Guide•••••••••••••••••••ABOUT DEVICE•••••••••••••••••••▶ Dimensions: 14x80x80 mm▶ Weight: 79 g▶ WiFi: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz (adhoc/peer to peer not supported)▶ BT: A2DP Advanced Audio Distribution Profile & AVRCP Audio/Video Remote Control Profile. ( BT speakers with PIN and BT calling/messaging is not supported. BT not supported when using multi room music)▶ TOP: One led & two backlit buttons (one for alexa & one for mic on/off)▶ LATERAL: AUX in, Micro USB in•••••••PROS•••••••▶ Slim profile device with small form factor. So unobstrusive.▶ You can impart smartness to any speaker or home theatre system.▶ Alexa automation at bare minimum cost▶ Micro USB port for power in. Carry it anywhere, use it even inside car as micro USB is handy.▶ 3.5mm Aux cable provided in default package▶ Privacy covered with Mic off button▶ Sensitive mic▶ Skill set to add further smartness to already smart Alexa. Just think of scenario & you will find skill for that. eg smart home, ted talks, food ordering, music, news, to-dos, cab booking, story telling etc•••••••CONS•••••••▶ COST: Yes cost in con too. Even after volume up to highest level in both echo input & speakers, output was slightly low. This is not a case with Echo dot.••••••••SETUP••••••••Its as easy as 1,2,3.▶ Download alexa app from store▶ Login using same account used to purchase device.▶ You will find device alread registered there.▶ Configure features, add skills & you are good to go.P.S. If its a gift, check box below “buy now” button to let Amazon know that its a gift. Input < Dot < Echo < Spot < Plus & then theres a Sub to accompany them all. Just fix your budget & get one.

This product just works. I didn’t find any working presets for my products so I had to record all my buttons. The problem with recording buttons is that we cannot record all buttons and combinations. For example AC buttons are not as transparent as they seem. When we press a temperature increase button the remote sends data for the temperature, mode, fan speed , sleep mode and all other information. So it is next to impossible to record all combinations. The next difficulty is to make them work with assistants.First you have to create scenes( for ex “AC on”) in smart life app with the recorded button and link smart life to Google assistant and alexa to make the scenes available to them. Then the command becomes “Alexa turn on AC on” or ” Hey Google activate AC on”To avoid that now you have to create a routine ( for ac “Start cooling “in both assistant and add the scene as action. Now the command becomes “Hey Google/Alexa start cooling ” and now the AC is on.Then you remember you have to do the same for “off” “20*c” “21*c” “21*c with sleep and fan speed 3″… and so on. Thank God it is a one time activity.I hope they include presets for my remotes. That will encourage me to leave my remote altogether.

  49. This is definitely an interesting device. Does have the basic iR universal remote functionality but tiresome with setting up the remotes. I got this for my Hall’s Samsung Curved UHD TV , Bluray theatre, 2 LG ACs, Airtel DTH. Nothing worked perfectly but was able to turn them on or off. Airtel DTH never worked. So I transferred it to my bedroom to use it with my Hitachi AC , LG TV & Phillips soundbar. Works fine with Alexa & Google assistant.Hope it gets better with firmware update. But this device’s price is unbeatable. Worth it.

Overall the product is very nice and useful and worth. Product is very cute. Installation so simple. Excellent performance for all standard remotes. Only draw back is custom remotes usage through Alexa voice control not working. If product software gets upgraded for this feature product will be excellent.
