Very poor quality. Got burnt within 6 months since purchase. Also the cost of Rs. 1999/- is extremely high. It’s cost should be Rs. 500 max.

Well here are the pros and cons comparing to the old echo.It has video capabilities. So of course it adds a lot of more abilities compared to the old echo. Touch screen is nice. So is the voice recognition. Much more sensitive compared to the older echo.On the other side voice quality is no where comparable with the old echo. Misses the base and the elegance in the voice. Feels like all artists is having fever and closed nose. The unit as such is facing a little upwards. Could have been better if angle of camera could be adjusted, as in the default setup it’s very difficult to get images of the room as camera is also tilted upwards along with the unit. So if you want to keep an eye on the room or kids whatever it may be you have to adjust and balance the placement of the whole unit with something. More over you have to find something low enough to allow a good view. The screen gets heated up like the normal TV screens after some time.Frankly at this price it could have been better equipped to give a sound quality atleast equivalent to old echo.

I LOVE the Echo Show 5I have the Echo Dot 2nd & 3rd Gen in every room of my house and using it as intercom between all devices. Makes life easier. (Dot 3rd Gen beats 2nd Gen in its Sound output department while everything else remains the same but OMG, Heaven&Earth difference)Amazon, of course, beats Google in this category by years with the first Echo Show and innovated the bedside model with the Echo Spot and now a 5 incher Show. But Google have a way of catching up to and eventually passing the competition. lolThe Echo Show 5 packs in a few features that its competitor devices lack. Prime video playback and an on-board camera. Downside is that you are bound to only view Prime Videos and no other video app but the HD screen and its clarity can satisfy you. Youtube however can be accessed via Silk browser (for time being until Google decides to launch its own app for the show)Sound is great (too good considering the size) with mids and bass levels to surprise you. Camera is a let down but hopefully some updates could get the resolution better. ES5 has a privacy camera shutter. So you can slide the damn thing to make sure youre not being watched (pun intended). There are multiple good features which I love about the ES5: Keeps you updated- Onscreen notifications about news, weather, calendar etc. Set Alarm, Reminders and Timer. However, the downfall here is the editing of Alarm time/sound, which can only be done via the Alexa App. (Not a big deal but for some it might be) … I love the fact that we can use this ES5 as Digital Photo Frame.Whats confusing me the most here is the pricing. Though I got this at the Prime Day (Launch offer) at a literally ~30% discount – (Thank You Amazon) I notice the Echo Spot is costlier than this device (12999/-) with lesser screen-size and same features. While everything in this device is a Pro. The only Con I see is the screen heating. While I understand that having a 5 inch screen with a 15 watt power adapter causes this issue, I would be happier if Amazon shipped a 9 watt adapter instead or releases an OTA update to subsidize this. Overall, Its a great purchase, especially for the price it was offered on Prime Day Sale (15.07.19).All in all, Thank you Amazon for making my life easier in every corner of my home.

  22. This is very good hardware and speaker. However very much handicapped by amazon on software front. It can not understand your commands 70-80 percentage times and very limited to amazon music and saavn. However you can not use any of good music apps like wynk, gaana, youtube etc. Also natural language processing is supported in google products but not in this echo. For example when you say-1) where is agra – it gives you correct answer.2) continue with next query like how to reach there ?Then for 2nd query it doesn’t know what to do..This is just an example but most of the times you will find this issue there. Then you can not connect with other populer music etc apps. Have to rely on what amazon thinks os good for you.Amazon music has very limited music base.So looking forward to get more access and integration with alexa however not have much hope since its already such an old plateform that they would have given support if there were any such plans.

  23. It definitely has better speakers than Eco Dot Gen2 and Google Home Mini, but sound recognition is very poor compared to Google Home Mini or even previous Eco Dot. Maybe it has something to do with cost cutting and Amazon going with only 4 far field microphones instead of 7.But due to it’s poor recognition, it takes a lot of time, sometimes even minutes and does nothing… Which definitely takes away the experience. Unfortunately I can’t return it… But I think Google Home Mini is miles ahead and better with all the new updates to Google Assistant (Sleep assist and stuff).Update as on 27th April 2019: Software has gone from bad to worst. It plays certain songs again and again, doesn’t let you skip. Recognition has also gone from bad to worst, you have to yell for Alexa to understand what you want it to do only for it to tell you it doesn’t understand what you said. And expect no support from Amazon about eco devices, it’s very bad.

This was launched on 11th and I got the product by 12th. Plus the reduced price due to sale and a nice smart bulb for just 500 rupees. Overall I think this was super value for money. I haven’t used any other smart speaker before but I am very happy with my purchase. Below are some observations :1. Initially it feels a bit weird talking to a speaker but you get used to it in no time.2. The sound quality is pretty good. You get good depth of sound with decent bass.3. Several skills available and you will definitely find some very useful. For example adding stuff to shopping list or setting up a reminder.4. Understands the Indian accent very well. Sometimes I am amazed by how well it picks up stuff.6. Kids love it. An added advantage is that they can take help for homework and talking to alexa also motivates them to talk in English

First of all it is so expensive, we can get a smartphone instead. I am writing this review after six months usage, I have only cons to say about, i couldn’t figure it out why i bought this one.1. Connectivity issue, it regularly disconnects from wifi. My wifi speed is 40 mbps.2. It has no google support, youtube streaming not possible, search results are also not good.3. Sound quality is not good for this price range, no bass. Even my sony speaker worth 3k will give 1000 times better sound.4. It will do only some predefined tasks like whats the time now, alarm, reminders and so on. Music steaming from amazon music and savn no gaana.Complete waste of money.

  26. Still experimenting on different features, third party integration like with you tube could have made it better. Search capability is not that good inspite of the fact that movies are present in the Amazon music database, it fails to find it out and play.

  34. This is the best Alexa smart screen / speaker that Amazon has come up with … it has just about the perfect screen size for a device like this and also the speakers are good for filling a sound of a medium sized bedroom. The price is decent and it’s not extravagant like the echo show 2nd gen.I would strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for a new Alexa device with a screen.

  43. To each one his own. This is my point of view, please read this review with an open mind. This is an interesting product for those who stay at home and enjoy being engaged by talking to a ‘thing’. I found it very ‘un’human and not useful like a tablet or a smartphone. Voice activated electronics, as many would realise, have not made an impact as expected. At least I do not like talking to a thing other than requesting Siri to set my morning alarm or open GMail. I suspect a lot of us employ voice commands rather sparingly. I have not seen people taking to their phones very often. But if you’re one lonely, detached soul, all by yourself with no family and company; please enjoy taking to Alexa and grooving to ‘Laila mein Laila’. I’d rather select a repertoire of songs and play them on my better sounding speakers than Alexa’s. On the other hand, I requested Alexa to read a book from my Kindle collection and it did very poorly in this department. There were no pauses, no emphasis on words and it was simply very poor reading. Would you take Alexa to office, would you take Alexa while on the move? Very few would. Alexa is only meant for room use (a room within a house) for those who stay at home and require to talk to someone. Such people should read books instead or watch TV (that’s audio plus visuals). There is long way to go to make this a ‘required’ product. It’s in the ‘Gimmick’ stage right now. I returned Alexa the same day. I was curious not anymore.

This product is amazing, no wonder on that. You have an AI that can make your day convenient. The audio output is quite good and the overall functionality of this device is brilliant.I have deducted one star just because it cannot run on battery and you have to keep it plugged in all the time but if you can compromise on that you have an excellent product

For someone who has been crazy for music for a long time and having spend quite a lot on music systems and songs, I have had my first exposure to the amazon echo a few years back when that advertisement which showed people asking Alexa to play music and to answer questions.I immediately liked the idea to ask the device to play what I wanted to listen to.But the question was how much the idea was worthy of.During the last onam, I wanted to gift my mother a music player which she could operate without help and with ease.I did have echo as an option. But she was hesitant for the idea to talk to the device.Besides, she is unable speak English or Hindi. So I settled for the Saregama Carvaan. While I went through the tracks in that device I thought of getting one for me as well.Carvaan is good in collection and for the radio capability, but appeared boring and dull to listen to for the long periods as finding the real tracks was a big fuzz in it.So I set my eyes on the amazon echo.I waited for the amazon Indian sale for it. There was quite a good deal for echo on it.However, it was by this time that the 3rd generation echo was released which had the same hardware as echo plus with the larger drivers and better sound as claimed.I went to for it. The price was Rs. 9999/-Got it delivered to my home address exactly as promised, while I had been at work. When I opened it in the evening after the work, I was a bit upset because I had ordered the black but they sent the white piece. Would it get dirty soon? Not sure. The setup was a breeze as I had already knew the steps. Connected it to the WiFi and placed near my bed on a wooden stand at 3 feet from the floor.Once I started playing the echo everything changed and and I was surprised by the sound quality.I asked alexa to play “chupke chupke” by Ghulam Ali from the movie Nikah. The sound felt really warm and all the instruments came to life. The tabla was kicking in and out as the melody caressed the ears. The great singers voice felt a like coming right from the bedside.I suggested several Hindi and malayalam songs and alexa got almost all Hindi and most of the malayalam ones right.Using the alexa app on the phone I added my subscriptions of Hungama, gaana and amazon music. The saavan also was added but I couldn’t load my subscription due to some problem with saavan. One notable exception was Spotify which is not supported by in India yet. It’s slight disappointment as that has been my priority these days. The sound quality:Echo 3rd generation used 3 inch woofer just like echo plus. I found the base to be nice and delightful. The voice of Yesudas sounded a treat to the ears. The feminine voices of Lataji and Ashaji were so sweet that they my initial listenings went well past midnights.Echo does have a balanced sound. The bass coming from such a small speaker is actually surprising .I found the echo extremely wonderful to listen to at night and Early morning.Switching off the lights and listening to Jagjitsingh on echo is an experience I can’t describe. So is Talat mehmood or Hariharan.Try Jim reeves or Josh Groban at night on echo and you will be caressed to sleep.Echo helps you to set timer off and on.You can wake up with a classical music, such as Swathi Thirunal’s “Bhavayami raghuramam” or Thyagaraja’s “Jagadaananda karaka..” Sure your day will be better than the average one.Alexa:The assistant Alexa is good and right on most of situations. It failed when malayalam songs with the complex names were requested. I found it most effective to ask for songs in my library. It should be even more effective if playlists are made as needed, such as bedtime hits, wake up hits, devotionals, original movie sound tracks, country music, sad songs, semi classicals, school memories… So many possibilities are there to try.I know that Alexa is nowhere near Google when it comes to knowledge base. But Alexa has a more human like voice and sounds almost Indian. More over, I like the voice of Alexa than any other assistants like Google, bixby, siri etc.Recommendation:Amazon echo is a good buy for its varied musical entertainment. The device is extremely cute, convenient and easy to use.It has a very musical tone which most music lovers will like. For the best quality, I suggest to keep the it at the ear level about 1 to 2 arms distance from you.It is a highly personal device and not for family entertainment, even though the advertisements show otherwise.Shortcomings:The Bluetooth is just average. It is connects well but the sound quality is affected badly as well as the loudness. The line out is also average and even on a fairly expensive audio setup that I have, it sounded lousy. The games and general knowledge are not upto the mark and other assistants are much better there.Spotify was conspicuous by its absence and it broke my heart.Amazon music is the default source and it is often difficult to find the right tracks with the voice. Finally in one sentence I finish off my review.. I love my echo, it’s the best thing happened to my personal music love.

  47. Not at all good sound cannot be compared to jbl, bose. Alexa is better than google assistant.I was surprised to see that it reached my destination a day before launch on 15 Oct and was delivered same day but launch was on 16 oct. Then what’s the meaning of launch. The wipro bulb that I got with it was in pathetic condition box was torn.bad experience. It just looks like a 4000 speaker.very bad experience

  50. Still experimenting on different features, third party integration like with you tube could have made it better. Search capability is not that good inspite of the fact that movies are present in the Amazon music database, it fails to find it out and play.
