I’m not sure why “Amazon Echo” sounds better (lighter and louder) than this “All-new Echo Plus (second generation)”, when compared side by side. Little disappointed with the sound quality, I had more expectations with this device.

But she was hesitant for the idea to talk to the device.Besides, she is unable speak English or Hindi.So I settled for the Saregama Carvaan.While I went through the tracks in that device I thought of getting one for me as well.Carvaan is good in collection and for the radio capability, but appeared boring and dull to listen to for the long periods as finding the real tracks was a big fuzz in it.So I set my eyes on the amazon echo.I waited for the amazon Indian sale for it. There was quite a good deal for echo on it.However, it was by this time that the 3rd generation echo was released which had the same hardware as echo plus with the larger drivers and better sound as claimed.I went to for it. The price was Rs. 9999/-Got it delivered to my home address exactly as promised,while I had been at work.When I opened it in the evening after the work, I was a bit upset because I had ordered the black but they sent the white piece. Would it get dirty soon? Not sure.The setup was a breeze as I had already knew the steps. Connected it to the WiFi and placed near my bed on a wooden stand at 3 feet from the floor.Once I started playing the echo everything changed and and I was surprised by the sound quality.I asked alexa to play “chupke chupke” by Ghulam Ali from the movie Nikah.The sound felt really warm and all the instruments came to life. The tabla was kicking in and out as the melody caressed the ears. The great singers voice felt a like coming right from the bedside.I suggested several Hindi and malayalam songs and alexa got almost all Hindi and most of the malayalam ones right.Using the alexa app on the phone I added my subscriptions of Hungama, gaana and amazon music. The saavan also was added but I couldn’t load my subscription due to some problem with saavan.One notable exception was Spotify which is not supported by in India yet. It’s slight disappointment as that has been my priority these days.The sound quality:Echo 3rd generation used 3 inch woofer just like echo plus. I found the base to be nice and delightful. The voice of Yesudas sounded a treat to the ears. The feminine voices of Lataji and Ashaji were so sweet that they my initial listenings went well past midnights.Echo does have a balanced sound. The bass coming from such a small speaker is actually surprising .I found the echo extremely wonderful to listen to at night and Early morning.Switching off the lights and listening to Jagjitsingh on echo is an experience I can’t describe. So is Talat mehmood or Hariharan.Try Jim reeves or Josh Groban at night on echo and you will be caressed to sleep.Echo helps you to set timer off and on.You can wake up with a classical music, such as Swathi Thirunal’s “Bhavayami raghuramam” or Thyagaraja’s “Jagadaananda karaka..” Sure your day will be better than the average one.Alexa:The assistant Alexa is good and right on most of situations. It failed when malayalam songs with the complex names were requested. I found it most effective to ask for songs in my library. It should be even more effective if playlists are made as needed, such as bedtime hits, wake up hits, devotionals, original movie sound tracks, country music, sad songs, semi classicals, school memories… So many possibilities are there to try.I know that Alexa is nowhere near Google when it comes to knowledge base. But Alexa has a more human like voice and sounds almost Indian. More over, I like the voice of Alexa than any other assistants like Google, bixby, siri etc.Recommendation:Amazon echo is a good buy for its varied musical entertainment. The device is extremely cute, convenient and easy to use.It has a very musical tone which most music lovers will like. For the best quality, I suggest to keep the it at the ear level about 1 to 2 arms distance from you.It is a highly personal device and not for family entertainment, even though the advertisements show otherwise.Shortcomings:The Bluetooth is just average. It is connects well but the sound quality is affected badly as well as the loudness.The line out is also average and even on a fairly expensive audio setup that I have, it sounded lousy.The games and general knowledge are not upto the mark and other assistants are much better there.Spotify was conspicuous by its absence and it broke my heart.Amazon music is the default source and it is often difficult to find the right tracks with the voice.Finally in one sentence I finish off my review.. I love my echo, it’s the best thing happened to my personal music love.

The Sound Quality & the overall product design & look is all good for the price paid. Can be bought blindly.

For someone who has been crazy for music for a long time and having spend quite a lot on music systems and songs, I have had my first exposure to the amazon echo a few years back when that advertisement which showed people asking Alexa to play music and to answer questions.I immediately liked the idea to ask the device to play what I wanted to listen to.But the question was how much the idea was worthy of.During the last onam, I wanted to gift my mother a music player which she could operate without help and with ease.I did have echo as an option. But she was hesitant for the idea to talk to the device.Besides, she is unable speak English or Hindi.So I settled for the Saregama Carvaan.While I went through the tracks in that device I thought of getting one for me as well.Carvaan is good in collection and for the radio capability, but appeared boring and dull to listen to for the long periods as finding the real tracks was a big fuzz in it.So I set my eyes on the amazon echo.I waited for the amazon Indian sale for it. There was quite a good deal for echo on it.However, it was by this time that the 3rd generation echo was released which had the same hardware as echo plus with the larger drivers and better sound as claimed.I went to for it. The price was Rs. 9999/-Got it delivered to my home address exactly as promised,while I had been at work.When I opened it in the evening after the work, I was a bit upset because I had ordered the black but they sent the white piece. Would it get dirty soon? Not sure.The setup was a breeze as I had already knew the steps. Connected it to the WiFi and placed near my bed on a wooden stand at 3 feet from the floor.Once I started playing the echo everything changed and and I was surprised by the sound quality.I asked alexa to play “chupke chupke” by Ghulam Ali from the movie Nikah.The sound felt really warm and all the instruments came to life. The tabla was kicking in and out as the melody caressed the ears. The great singers voice felt a like coming right from the bedside.I suggested several Hindi and malayalam songs and alexa got almost all Hindi and most of the malayalam ones right.Using the alexa app on the phone I added my subscriptions of Hungama, gaana and amazon music. The saavan also was added but I couldn’t load my subscription due to some problem with saavan.One notable exception was Spotify which is not supported by in India yet. It’s slight disappointment as that has been my priority these days.The sound quality:Echo 3rd generation used 3 inch woofer just like echo plus. I found the base to be nice and delightful. The voice of Yesudas sounded a treat to the ears. The feminine voices of Lataji and Ashaji were so sweet that they my initial listenings went well past midnights.Echo does have a balanced sound. The bass coming from such a small speaker is actually surprising .I found the echo extremely wonderful to listen to at night and Early morning.Switching off the lights and listening to Jagjitsingh on echo is an experience I can’t describe. Not at all good sound cannot be compared to jbl,bose. Alexa is better than google assistant.I was surprised to see that it reached my destination a day before launch on 15 Oct and was delivered same day but launch was on 16 oct.Then what’s the meaning of launch.The wipro bulb that I got with it was in pathetic condition box was torn.bad experience.It just looks like a 4000 speaker.very bad experience

Not at all good sound cannot be compared to jbl,bose. Alexa is better than google assistant.I was surprised to see that it reached my destination a day before launch on 15 Oct and was delivered same day but launch was on 16 oct.Then what’s the meaning of launch.The wipro bulb that I got with it was in pathetic condition box was torn.bad experience.It just looks like a 4000 speaker.very bad experience

I’m not sure why “Amazon Echo” sounds better (lighter and louder) than this “All-new Echo Plus (second generation)”, when compared side by side. Little disappointed with the sound quality, I had more expectations with this device.

For someone who has been crazy for music for a long time and having spend quite a lot on music systems and songs, I have had my first exposure to the amazon echo a few years back when that advertisement which showed people asking Alexa to play music and to answer questions.I immediately liked the idea to ask the device to play what I wanted to listen to.But the question was how much the idea was worthy of.During the last onam, I wanted to gift my mother a music player which she could operate without help and with ease.I did have echo as an option. But she was hesitant for the idea to talk to the device.Besides, she is unable speak English or Hindi.So I settled for the Saregama Carvaan.While I went through the tracks in that device I thought of getting one for me as well.Carvaan is good in collection and for the radio capability, but appeared boring and dull to listen to for the long periods as finding the real tracks was a big fuzz in it.So I set my eyes on the amazon echo.I waited for the amazon Indian sale for it. There was quite a good deal for echo on it.However, it was by this time that the 3rd generation echo was released which had the same hardware as echo plus with the larger drivers and better sound as claimed.I went to for it. The price was Rs. 9999/-Got it delivered to my home address exactly as promised,while I had been at work.When I opened it in the evening after the work, I was a bit upset because I had ordered the black but they sent the white piece. Would it get dirty soon? Not sure.The setup was a breeze as I had already knew the steps. Connected it to the WiFi and placed near my bed on a wooden stand at 3 feet from the floor.Once I started playing the echo everything changed and and I was surprised by the sound quality.I asked alexa to play “chupke chupke” by Ghulam Ali from the movie Nikah.The sound felt really warm and all the instruments came to life. The tabla was kicking in and out as the melody caressed the ears. The great singers voice felt a like coming right from the bedside.I suggested several Hindi and malayalam songs and alexa got almost all Hindi and most of the malayalam ones right.Using the alexa app on the phone I added my subscriptions of Hungama, gaana and amazon music. The saavan also was added but I couldn’t load my subscription due to some problem with saavan.One notable exception was Spotify which is not supported by in India yet. It’s slight disappointment as that has been my priority these days.The sound quality:Echo 3rd generation used 3 inch woofer just like echo plus. I found the base to be nice and delightful. The voice of Yesudas sounded a treat to the ears. The feminine voices of Lataji and Ashaji were so sweet that they my initial listenings went well past midnights.Echo does have a balanced sound. The bass coming from such a small speaker is actually surprising .I found the echo extremely wonderful to listen to at night and Early morning.Switching off the lights and listening to Jagjitsingh on echo is an experience I can’t describe. So is Talat mehmood or Hariharan.Try Jim reeves or Josh Groban at night on echo and you will be caressed to sleep.Echo helps you to set timer off and on.You can wake up with a classical music, such as Swathi Thirunal’s “Bhavayami raghuramam” or Thyagaraja’s “Jagadaananda karaka..” Sure your day will be better than the average one.Alexa:The assistant Alexa is good and right on most of situations. It failed when malayalam songs with the complex names were requested. I found it most effective to ask for songs in my library. It should be even more effective if playlists are made as needed, such as bedtime hits, wake up hits, devotionals, original movie sound tracks, country music, sad songs, semi classicals, school memories… So many possibilities are there to try.I know that Alexa is nowhere near Google when it comes to knowledge base. But Alexa has a more human like voice and sounds almost Indian. More over, I like the voice of Alexa than any other assistants like Google, bixby, siri etc.Recommendation:Amazon echo is a good buy for its varied musical entertainment. The device is extremely cute, convenient and easy to use.It has a very musical tone which most music lovers will like. For the best quality, I suggest to keep the it at the ear level about 1 to 2 arms distance from you.It is a highly personal device and not for family entertainment, even though the advertisements show otherwise.Shortcomings:The Bluetooth is just average. It is connects well but the sound quality is affected badly as well as the loudness.The line out is also average and even on a fairly expensive audio setup that I have, it sounded lousy.The games and general knowledge are not upto the mark and other assistants are much better there.Spotify was conspicuous by its absence and it broke my heart.Amazon music is the default source and it is often difficult to find the right tracks with the voice.Finally in one sentence I finish off my review.. I love my echo, it’s the best thing happened to my personal music love.

Amazon Echo Plus: Bought 17th Jan: Without free Bulb Scheme: Seller-Cloudtail Pvt. India Ltd.Firstly, this is a 5 Star-100% positive review of the Amazon Echo Plus!However as all reviews will tell you what the Amazon Echo Plus does, so let me start with the most important things that it DOES’NT DO: -●Amazon has NOT launched the Amazon Household feature in India. This means that Alexa is locked on only to your voice and your wife and kids might not be able to use it. It is not mentioned in the details anywhere and the advertisements show otherwise. They are working on a solution for India also which might release any time now. **********However, that being said, there is a work around (Jugaad) for this which I have discovered. You can login to the Amazon.co.uk site with your India Amazon credentials and add family members in the Household feature there. Amazingly after that, Alexa in India starts recognising multiple voices. You can thank me for this discovery. It’s working perfectly for me. Wife and Kids are having a blast. ● Alexa cannot control the Amazon Firestick in India even though the feature is available across the world. Have chatted with Amazon customer care and both of these feature will be available soon. It would be fantastic to just to ask Alexa to play a particular movie etc and have it play on a Firestick connected TV. Pure science fiction. Waiting on edge for this feature to be launched in India.●Till last week Amazon could play individual songs and playlist from many sources but you could not create your own personal playlists or add songs to a particular playlist. With the Launch of Amazon Music this problem has been solved. Amazon Music is included free in your Prime membership and you can simply login and create as many playlists as you want on the website/or using Alexa and simply ask Alexa to play that particular playlist according to your mood. It was really frustrating not having facility for personal playlist as when I wanted to listen to 5 of my favourite songs, I would have to individually tell Alexa, one by one to play the songs. Thank god this is resolved.Observations:●Indian-ized accent can be sensed in Alexa’s voice. Easily recognizes sentences with heavy Indian accents too. Glad Amazon took care of personalizing this aspect.●The routines and schedules which you can create on the Alexa App are basic as of now. Example: If user say’s “XXXX”, then say “XXXX” and then do this, with options limited to News/Smarthome/Weather. I would really like… if user says “XXXX”, then do this and do this and do this etc.. Longer routines should be configurable. This might come soon too but is currently limited.●Certain instructions to Alexa need to be very specific and clear. Vague questions might elicit an “I don’t know or I don’t understand” response. Often rephrasing the question will get you the answer you were expecting.With new technologies you’ve got to be a bit patient. These niggles are totally acceptable to me as the fantabulous benefits and features totally outweigh these problems.Started Home automation project with my Bedroom First:I have configured one Philips Hue 10W B22 bulb (White & Color) in my room right now. Installation was easy. Plugged in bulb. Asked Alexa to “detect devices” and bulb was discovered as “light 1”. Asked Alexa to rename as “light”. Started using directly without even opening the Philips Hue App yet thanks to the inbuilt hub on the Echo Plus. Favourite commands with bulb: Alexa, -> Switch ON light -> switch OFF light -> Change color of light to XXX -> Increase brightness of light -> Decrease brightness of light. Also in Alexa app have created routine where when I say “Alexa, Good Morning” then Alexa switches the light ON, greets me with a phrase that I have set and plays the news from my NDTV Flash briefing. Have also tried scheduling light with Alexa. Simple command “Alexa, wake me up a 6:30”. Alexa switches ON light gradually at 6:30 with alarm. Can configure to start the day with a song too after it switches ON light.DOES EVERYTHING ELSE IT PROMISES!!My verdict: If you’re a gadgets freak, or crazy about home automation, a sci-fi fan, a show-off, a trendsetter in your group/family/area/office, any and all of the above, then don’t think.. Just get this now…It’ll blow your mind!!Next in Bedroom automation Project:-Have ordered one 10 amp wifi Smart Wireless Switch which works With Amazon Alexa to automate powering ON another light (Tubelight) from the power source itself, rather than buying an expensive bulb.-Have ordered one 16 amp wifi Smart Wireless switch which I will use to power on the Air Conditioner using voice command on Echo Plus.-In Process of buying wifi 3 In 1 Smart Plug power strip to power ON TV/Set top box/Firestick etc with Alexa.Will update this review with more observations soon! In fact it is an evolved hybrid of music system and home-automation with an integrated AI.Delivery: As promised by AmazonProduct finish: It looks good but a little colour choice would have been much better.Packing: Since I gave it as a Birthday Gift to my wife, therefore was a bit worried about the Gift-wrapping option…but Amazon did not disappoint me on that.About Product: After doing a little research on three top smart music systems in the market viz Alexa, Google Home, Apple Homepod I decided to zero down on Alexa as being a prime member I already had the benefit of prime music etc. Moreover the ease of accessibility and its AI is just tuned right to suit different accents and patterns that even little kids can give commands to make it play songs, or use smart home devices synced to it. In my case I am using the Philips Hue Light Bulb (which came free with it), and I find it better to switch-on or off with a simple voice command instead of finding the switchboard in the dark…in case I wake up at night.I found it so pretty useful that I ordered Alexa again but this time it was Echo, but since i find Echo Plus better due to availability of smart-home option, so I had to cancel the order thereafter and am still waiting for Amazon guys to bring up more colour choices.Well don’t want my review to be un-necessary lengthy…it was a gift for my wife and she totally loved so would rate it 5 stars.

For someone who has been crazy for music for a long time and having spend quite a lot on music systems and songs, I have had my first exposure to the amazon echo a few years back when that advertisement which showed people asking Alexa to play music and to answer questions.I immediately liked the idea to ask the device to play what I wanted to listen to.But the question was how much the idea was worthy of.During the last onam, I wanted to gift my mother a music player which she could operate without help and with ease.I did have echo as an option. But she was hesitant for the idea to talk to the device.Besides, she is unable speak English or Hindi.So I settled for the Saregama Carvaan.While I went through the tracks in that device I thought of getting one for me as well.Carvaan is good in collection and for the radio capability, but appeared boring and dull to listen to for the long periods as finding the real tracks was a big fuzz in it.So I set my eyes on the amazon echo.I waited for the amazon Indian sale for it. There was quite a good deal for echo on it.However, it was by this time that the 3rd generation echo was released which had the same hardware as echo plus with the larger drivers and better sound as claimed.I went to for it. The price was Rs. 9999/-Got it delivered to my home address exactly as promised,while I had been at work.When I opened it in the evening after the work, I was a bit upset because I had ordered the black but they sent the white piece. Would it get dirty soon? Not sure.The setup was a breeze as I had already knew the steps. Connected it to the WiFi and placed near my bed on a wooden stand at 3 feet from the floor.Once I started playing the echo everything changed and and I was surprised by the sound quality.I asked alexa to play “chupke chupke” by Ghulam Ali from the movie Nikah.The sound felt really warm and all the instruments came to life. The tabla was kicking in and out as the melody caressed the ears. The great singers voice felt a like coming right from the bedside.I suggested several Hindi and malayalam songs and alexa got almost all Hindi and most of the malayalam ones right.Using the alexa app on the phone I added my subscriptions of Hungama, gaana and amazon music. The saavan also was added but I couldn’t load my subscription due to some problem with saavan.One notable exception was Spotify which is not supported by in India yet. It’s slight disappointment as that has been my priority these days.The sound quality:Echo 3rd generation used 3 inch woofer just like echo plus. I found the base to be nice and delightful. The voice of Yesudas sounded a treat to the ears. The feminine voices of Lataji and Ashaji were so sweet that they my initial listenings went well past midnights.Echo does have a balanced sound. The bass coming from such a small speaker is actually surprising .I found the echo extremely wonderful to listen to at night and Early morning.Switching off the lights and listening to Jagjitsingh on echo is an experience I can’t describe. So is Talat mehmood or Hariharan.Try Jim reeves or Josh Groban at night on echo and you will be caressed to sleep.Echo helps you to set timer off and on.You can wake up with a classical music, such as Swathi Thirunal’s “Bhavayami raghuramam” or Thyagaraja’s “Jagadaananda karaka..” Sure your day will be better than the average one.Alexa:The assistant Alexa is good and right on most of situations. It failed when malayalam songs with the complex names were requested. I found it most effective to ask for songs in my library. It should be even more effective if playlists are made as needed, such as bedtime hits, wake up hits, devotionals, original movie sound tracks, country music, sad songs, semi classicals, school memories… So many possibilities are there to try.I know that Alexa is nowhere near Google when it comes to knowledge base. But Alexa has a more human like voice and sounds almost Indian. More over, I like the voice of Alexa than any other assistants like Google, bixby, siri etc.Recommendation:Amazon echo is a good buy for its varied musical entertainment. The device is extremely cute, convenient and easy to use.It has a very musical tone which most music lovers will like. For the best quality, I suggest to keep the it at the ear level about 1 to 2 arms distance from you.It is a highly personal device and not for family entertainment, even though the advertisements show otherwise.Shortcomings:The Bluetooth is just average. It is connects well but the sound quality is affected badly as well as the loudness.The line out is also average and even on a fairly expensive audio setup that I have, it sounded lousy.The games and general knowledge are not upto the mark and other assistants are much better there.Spotify was conspicuous by its absence and it broke my heart.Amazon music is the default source and it is often difficult to find the right tracks with the voice.Finally in one sentence I finish off my review.. I love my echo, it’s the best thing happened to my personal music love.

The Sound Quality & the overall product design & look is all good for the price paid. Can be bought blindly.

I’m not sure why “Amazon Echo” sounds better (lighter and louder) than this “All-new Echo Plus (second generation)”, when compared side by side. Little disappointed with the sound quality, I had more expectations with this device.

The sound quality is decent but I connect it to my Home Theatre and enjoy high-quality sound. The second generation is much better now and the bugs have really reduced. The delivery was on time and product was well packed. Thanks, Amazon! (you can set password ls to safeguard purchases)Ask Alexa to book a Taxi via Ola or Uber.Ask Alexa for recommendations on products you are confused about.5) NOTIFICATIONS, TO DO LIST, EMAILS & BALANCE CHECK.Ask Alexa to check Notifications on your phone as see if you missed any.Ask here to add Tasks to your To Do or shopping lists which will be synced on your mobile.Ask Alexa to Check your bank balance once linked.Link your Email and Alexa can read them out to you and also help you compose or archive them.6) FOOD RECIPES & NEARBY RESTAURANTS:Ask Alexa for any food recipes while you cook along.Ask Alexa for nearby restaurants, their reviews, and contact number.MATH, MEANING & DEFINITIONS:Alexa can help you with calculations like basic additions and even complex factorials.She can also provide meanings of almost everything and precise definitions for the same.7) WHISPER MODE:Got elders or little children at home, no problem if you whisper to Alexa she will talk back in whispers. (This mode as to be enabled)8) SMART HOME FLTTT:Use Alexa to control your lighting and with Automation platforms the possibilities are endless. Ask Alexa to change temperature, draw blinds and a lot more.9) STORIES, NURSERY RHYMES & CHILD CONTROL:Brighten your Kids day by asking Alexa to play Rhymes or Tell stories at Night.You can even control what your child can ask Alexa by customization of the child control option.10) EQUALIZER CONTROL, STEREO PAIRING & ECHO SUBWOOFER.Eq settingsYou can tell her to alter the bass, mid-range, and treble on a -6 dB to 6 dB scale. Any adjustments you make will apply to your music, audiobooks or podcasts. If you’re not happy with the changes, then just ask Alexa to reset the equalizer. You can also adjust/reset settings by going into the Alexa app.Stereo pairing is now an option in the second generation which lets you connect two Amazon echo plus devices together. This one Left Channel speaker and one Right Channel speaker. Thus giving you the good old 2.0 sound system.Echo Sub lets you connect to your Amazon echo plus making it the loveable 2.1 system which can create dance club level music at your home. Damn the Bass Units makes a huge difference..!

Like me if you wanted a stereo pair of Alexa Plus (Gen 2) speakers to listen to music or see movies by connecting your devices over BT – you will be in for a rude shock and a total letdown.The stereo mode works ONLY when you play music from Amazon Music!!!!Why Amazon Why …. why have you handicapped the stereo pairing feature!!!!! So … so … so disappointedSound wise I felt the 1st Gen Echo Plus to be better. Does Amazon want to push you into buying Echo Sub. Waiting for mine since I already ordered. Hope its worth something!!!
